2 recent, weird and isolated issues with BD playback
@oddiofyl @tonykay @cleeds I have an update on this at long last, and it's quite a story.I dropped of the 881 at a Mc dealer on July 25, 2016 instead of Pro Tech (not open Saturdays).  Yes, over a year ago.  They couldn't fix the 20th Century Fox ...

Spot-on.  Thank you.
thread for PMC owners
I don't have PMCs, but am strongly considering the Fact 12, twenty 26 or maybe the MB2SE as possible replacement for my Rogers Studio 1.  Would love to hear about your experiences!
The longest you have owned any gear?
I'm one of the more unusual folks here, I guess.  Don't change stuff all that frequently and have kept all the stuff I really liked.  All of my "vintage" gear is at least 28 years old.  Only bought one piece used and the Sansui was a hand-me-down ...
What Turnatable now?
+1 @inna for the Sutherland 20-20.  On the table, don't overlook Sota; you can get very nice Sapphire with any one of several arms for your budget range.  If you're willing to do a bit of your own work, you can get an older table, buy new springs ...

@tgun5 I'll try the direct message method.  FYI, this Saturday morning is NG for me - chores.
Mc 452 or MC 302
Remember, sound pressure level is not linear to power.  The extra 150 watts nominal only get you 1.5 decibels.  I happen to love my MC302; it works very well in my rig.  I very much did not care for the MC402 with a pair of B&W 802s when I was...

@tgun5 Just noticed you being in Huron.  I'm also in Huron, and would be happy to meet with a local audio geek.  Do you hit Marconi's or the Bull at all?Hope to hear from you!
Moving a 5,000 vinyl LP collection safely
The answer depends more on the strength of the corrugated box you've used in relation to the per-carton weight than anything else.  A 12 inch high stack of records weighs quite a bit, probably ~30 pounds.  A single-wall 200 lb. test box would almo...

The use of the word "musical" as an adjective
+1 @nonoise For me, "musical" as an adjective = nothing between me and the music.  A lot of the buzzwords that have been tossed around are far less clear to me.  For example, "warm" or "clinical."  While I do understand the impression that people ...
Best universal disc player that has great audio reproduction?
Another vote for the MVP881BR here.  I specifically went out and auditioned all kinds of players to find the one that sounded the best. To my ears, that was the 881.  Open, natural, musical.  It was a very long search, so be patient.  Good luck &a...
Dynavector XX2 MKII? Your thoughts of it?
$400 for an XX2 Mk. II with 1000 hours is a fair deal, presuming that the stylus itself is in good condition.  You should look at it under a microscope if possible to be sure there are no pits, striations, cracks or uneven wear.I can't speak to th...
Two preamps are available....
+1 for @mofimadness McIntosh doesn't fool around.  You'll own it until it becomes an heirloom or you get bored with it.  It doesn't get higher value than that.
