Cat damaged speaker, Help Adam. Do you want some cheese with that whine? A barbecue and a bottle of Shiraz perhaps.
What the heck is bias anyway? HEHEHE. Seems to be a few sublimal messages going on here. PBNaudio. Stanwal's message was rather cute however Atmasphere's was even better. Hey,I hope you guys know how rebias those output transistors when required.
"Light Loading" Amps - Music Refence and others... Hey Bob. Life is grand over here. Hoping things are good for you and your loved ones.
"Light Loading" Amps - Music Refence and others... With respect to the light loading thing..... each to his own I suppose. After reading some of the recent comments on the RM-10, went back to the 4 ohm tap for a 6 hour session last evening.Sorry gang but the 8 ohm tap is the clear winner over here.
"Light Loading" Amps - Music Refence and others... Yup, the little RM-10 can go "Toe to Toe" with many of the highly regarded heavyweights out there. Pehare. It will get even better after a couple hundred hours of seat time.
"Light Loading" Amps - Music Refence and others... Pabul57. Yes, the Tannoy Westminster is nominally an 8 ohm load, and never drops below 6.5 ohms.Although I do not employ the RM-10 with the Tannoy, it is one amazing little amplifier regardless of tap selection. Pehare. Congrats on your new toy.
"Light Loading" Amps - Music Refence and others... I can concur with Pabul57 regarding the noise floor of the RM-10. Virtually non existant driving a pair of 98db sensitive Tannoy Westminsters. Certainly the quietest tube design I have ever heard.
How many tube watts for Vandersteen 2's? Hi Pabul57. I am not sure about Rogers comments with regards light loading however,it is impossible to ascertain with any certainty which tap is appropriate to use as no loudspeaker represents an unchanging impedance at all frequencies. The 8 ohm t...
How many tube watts for Vandersteen 2's? I don't believe that light loading the RM10 would reap any benefit while driving the 2ce either, particularly if it sounds better from the 8 ohm tap. The choice of tap may very well be speaker dependent however, the 8 omh tap has been the definativ...
Music Reference RM Mono? Hey Pubul57. Did you get those ge oval plates yet?
Music Reference RM Mono? Hi Pubul57. Yes Sir, the grey oval plates are the tube I was referring to. All the best.
Music Reference RM Mono? Hi Pabul57. Firstly, Happy New Year and all the best for 2011.You have a wonderful system there sir. To be candid here: I doubt the addition of another RM-10 into the system will reap much of a difference [if any] with the Merlins. Your tube choic...
Atma-Sphere MA-1 Mk.3.1 Vs. Atma-Sph. MA-2 Mk.3.1 Hi Donfibre. The MA-1's offered at a good price locally seems like a no brainer to me, go for it before their gone. RE: Bracing the cabinets: The original Tannoy cabinetry made for the 15inch DC's were rather flimsy and will benefit from the some ...
Atma-Sphere MA-1 Mk.3.1 Vs. Atma-Sph. MA-2 Mk.3.1 Don. A refurbished cabinet? Did you add any bracing?
Atma-Sphere MA-1 Mk.3.1 Vs. Atma-Sph. MA-2 Mk.3.1 While I have never heard the 11 ohm Coincidents, I would imagine they would make for a very good match with any model Atma regardless of power. |
