Does anyone collect something else other than music. Those radios are terrific. I have collected and restored 1950s jukeboxes. I had nine at one point, down to my three favorites now. I'd like to show photos but I don't know how.
Adding a sub to modest system Great advice, thanks
Bose 901 I purchased the 901s in 1976. They were my first good speakers. I really liked them but the equalizer was confusing and I felt like I had to play them very loud to get all the music I wanted. They did look spiffy though.
Ebay sellers switching tubes That sort of thing happens often. I sold an antique jukebox on eBay and when the buyer received it, it had a much cheaper tone arm cartridge on it and who knows what they may have taken from the inside. Good photos can sometimes discourage folks ...
Speakers or room I have a similar situation. I've done the best I can without compromising my room appearance too much but I know it's not ideal. Much of my listening is background so I'm ok. Jim Smith's book, "Get Better Sound" will help you a lot. Most of ...
Need advice I'm fairly new to this hobby also but please allow me to pass on some advice I received from . a serious audiophile and good friend. He told me that he has spent probably $50,000.00 over the years, buying, selling, trading, upgrading, etc. Of c...
Considering simplifying my system... talk me down (or whatever) When I first read your post I thought, yea good idea. But after reading some of the other posts, I think you might want to wait a while or at least slow it down. The last thing you want to do now is give up something that you spent so much time pe...
Who remembers audio from the time when ... My first system in high school was a Capehart turntable attached on top of the receiver and I was so excited. Then in the military in Southeast Asia I got serious with a Kenwood receiver (quad) , Sansui TT , Teac Reel 2 Reel, Teac cassette, and ...
Replacing caps & resistors on Vandersteens I was referring to the location of the caps and resistors on the speakers. When I took out the speakers before I did not see them. Could they be at the bottom? Thanks. Doug
buyer question I have over 900 transactions on eBay with 100% perfect feedback. I've been buying and selling on line for many years. I totally agree with the advice you received here.
What’s really hurting the audio hobby? It's "my friend and I". I have a fairly good dealership near my home in the Phila suburbs. Luckily I found the right salesman and he helped me. I'm happy with my purchases. I think the bad experience the writer had is not that rare today. Actua...
Looking for a local Audiophile Show Yes, Thanks
Power Conditioner recommendations? That's a smart question. The one I have doesn't seem to do much in the way of improving the sound. Based on advice I received here, I just ordered a Furman PST-8. Thanks. Doug
Power Conditioner recommendations? Thanks all, I really appreciate the help. Doug
How many of us are truly satisfied with their systems? For now, I am happy with my system. I merely have a Yamaha N803 receiver, Yamaha CD player, my old Sansui SR525 turntable, Vandersteen speakers and I stream Spotify. I would like to upgrade and have been tempted at the stereo shops but my knowled... |
