Lloyd Walker has passed away. I met Mr. Walker at a 'Vegas T.H.E. show 8-10 years ago. Very nice Man. R.I.P. Sir.
At one time I had a mini/micro/whatever system from Denon with Mission speakers, and... Yes, we need a quality "all-in-one" system. Currently, we can buy a three hundred dollar "cheapo" but nothing you'd trust your vinyl on. Give us a $1000-$1500 system with turntable, CD player, maybe Bluetooth and some nice speakers.
Flagship product to build around Large Tannoys, BAT VK-80i Triode amp and a really great streamer. Wire? OCC copper all around!
Looking for a SS amp for Goldenear References I use a BAT VK-255SE. By far the best SS amp I've owned. Resolution is awesome, soundstage is vast and (frequency) dynamic range unbelievable. Goto the BAT website and read about its special design features (not to mention Victor is a certified ge...
Check this system out! I see a newspaper but nothing about a system...
Western Electric or Takatsuki 300Bs? Companies losing billions to china and yet they keep their proprietary design data on public accessible servers (not counting on-site thieves)? These people don't sound very bright.
Any tubes currently manufactured in the US, Japan or Germany? Western Electric 300B tubes (and amps, $15k) made in Georgia, U.S.A..
Am I nuts? If you are paying $10 for the player, you’re not nuts. If you are paying $1000, you are nuts. BTW, try to find a Laser replacement on ebay.
Which amp for B&W 805 D3 and HTM2 D3 speakers - Rotel RMB-1555? I’ve owned an Onkyo HT receiver since 2008. It is great and still going strong. I understand Onkyo (and other players) were getting bum HDMI boards from the same factory resulting in the black mark on quality. Also heard this problem was resolved.
Which amp for B&W 805 D3 and HTM2 D3 speakers - Rotel RMB-1555? If I were doing it, I’d look at: Classe (used), Bryston (21B) or Maybe even 2 Pass Labs XA30s (Bi amp the center channel).
Why don't upgrade the wires and components inside our units? I was planning this post for years, just never did it. How about transformers using only OCC copper (if possible)? I know some companies have made them using pure silver wire (WAVAC?). Replace all internal speaker wire with OCC. All wiring in a...
Any owners here of Bowers & Wilkins 800 series D4 yet? Don’t know why B&W doesn’t go the KEF route and use a coincident tweeter within the midrange. Bet it would sound awesome! P.S. I just turned 69 and, for whatever reason, find I don't listen to music like I used to. Wouldn't make sense to upgr...
Any owners here of Bowers & Wilkins 800 series D4 yet? 804 D3 owner here. I wouldn't expect a day-and-night improvement with the D4 series. Personally, I'm smitten by the new 801 D4. Just love it as an object d'art. Not that crazy about how the tweeter sits on the midrange "turbine", but should look ...

Harmonic Technology Magic Link soldering issues One of the solder connections failed on a Magic XLR resulting in low volume in its channel (was my fault). Took to a "Mom-and-Pop" guitar store who resoldered it. Works fine again. Note: Use caution moving ICs around. Apparently, they are not very... |
