WOW,, way to go Alice
'Cmon, Alice has always been a toung-in-cheek concept. At least he's not as hypocritical as the "golf course republicans" who own this country and pretend they give a damn about he little guy. Also saw the "Killer" tour show at the Chicago Amphithea...
Meditative Music for Quiet Concentration
Mmmmm. Sounds like you need some "Elevations" by New Ager Don Harris. "The Dreams of Children" by Shadowfax is another that keeps the pulse going but stays out of the way.
open headphones AND speakers = Wow
Tisk! Children may be viewing!
Thoughts on Plasma, LCD, DLP and which way to go
I've been following these technologies and wouldn't spend big money (for me, 3-5K) on anything but 1080p DLP with HDMI input (on-board HD tuner and cable-card ready a definite plus).
Maybe speakers of the dreams ?
Hello Marco! No, I haven't heard the VividAudio speakers (maybe at this year's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas -my home town).I have heard the three dimensional soundscape, however.I've only heard it once through Dunleavy SC-IV Mk-II speaker...
Solid state or tube what to do??
Having used ARC tubes since 1990 (CL-60, VT-100 Mk-I, VT100 Mk-III) and Almarro A205A SE integrated until recently, I find myself using the super-nice Parasound A23 (SS, 180 w/ch @ 4 ohms) to drive my Thiel 1.6's.The Parasound amp is so sweet I ha...
Thiel 7.2 vs Wilson Sophia
Have heard both and the difference IMO a matter of scale. That is, the wonderful Wilson's will suffice in a smaller room whereas the mighty Thiels will thrive in Bill Gates's great room.Quality of sound won't be an issue with either (given proper c...
The most emotional amp out there?
It may have been self-hypnosis, stress or whatever but the BEL 1001 Mk-V's (on loan) thru my old Audio Artistry Dvoraks is THE best sound ever heard in my home.
What's your favorite lyric from a song?

The Chieftains - which CDs have the best sound?
Just listened to Chieftains "The Celtic Harp" the other day. Sound is very good. Also try "Invocation" by group Anuna. The Scottish folk group "Ossian" has produced half-a-dozen (or more) albums which I've been listening to almost 20 years with grea...
You might be an audiophile if...
You've ever thought your Dunlavy SC IV's would make spiffy coffins for you and the Mrs.
How does the AR Ls1 compare w/ other AR preamps
Eagleman: Don't rightly remember what brand of tube. This was about 8-9 years ago. Sorry...
How does the AR Ls1 compare w/ other AR preamps
They both have the pristine, extended ARC "house sound" which I prefer. Also, excellent dynamics and neutrality.I had trouble with tube noise in the LS-1 (has a single tube). I tried several different tubes and think I finally found a quiet one.Th...
How does the AR Ls1 compare w/ other AR preamps
Factory faxed a diagram which I no longer have.Call and ask for Leonard -he'll certainly help.Oh, by the way, I now own an ARC LS-9 which is a steal for the (used) asking price ($500 - $600).I'm just puzzled why this pre sells so cheap.I'd get an ...
How does the AR Ls1 compare w/ other AR preamps
I haven't like the lower end CJ preamps I have heard (almost sound muffled to me).I owned the LS-1 and found its presentation forward, crisp and clean.I actually asked the factory (Mr. Leonard) how to reduce gain (VERY powerful IMO) which can be d...
