enrico rava,s easy living?
Enrico Rava has consistently put out great stuff for a long time. He's on three excellent 2005 releases, La Dolce Vita, Full Of Life, and Journey To Donnafugata, (Full Of Life is my favorite of the three).
4 must have hours of baby boomer music?
Most of us geezers got weaned on radio (not hearing a whole album at once), so yeah i think the Rhino thing may be a good way to go, (also this way, no one at the party would have to put up w/ a whole album of an artist that they hate). 70's Smash...
Why do people write mean things about musicians
Can't say i've seen alot of great artists getting slammed on this site. Stale, predictable, cliche ridden movie sequals and recordings do exist, (and they make some people filthy rich). It doesn't suck when people point this out. There's no shorta...
My first CD buys in eons...great stuff
Borstlap is excellent, the White House/Borstlap trio and the Borstlap Sextet Live recordings (both 2cd sets) are worth hearing. Body Acoustic is good too, (just about anything w/ Han Bennink on it would be). You might be able to get these pretty c...
Harvey Mandel Question
Nope, Quite a few snake heads think that's his best. Never heard it on a quadrophonic set up, my copy is on Ovation, but the 8 track was on RCA. It probably didn't hurt to have G.E. Stinson (not G.E. Smith from SNL) on that recording, Stinson a #$...
$1000 to spend on an amp used
A Coda 11 will be bit more than 1k, but a Bedini 100/110 mkII should produce a pretty satisfying result w/ the gear you have.
What Guitarists Remind You Of SRV Or Hendrix?
Live in The Air Age and Axe Victim, are both excellent... had a ticket to see Be Bop Deluxe right after Air Age came out (wasn't as lucky as Fatparrot)... they cancelled. Hendrix was like some kind of super nova and lots of great guitar players h...
An observation about "Modern" classical music.
Ooops...Stravinsky
An observation about "Modern" classical music.
Stravinski was right, being a duck is the norm. The new stuff doesn't come to you, you have to go to it. There's always something to learn in order to get it when an artform pushes into a new area. Varese probably won't be on anyone's top 40 after...

Progressive Rock
Ooops, that's Deus ex Machina
Progressive Rock
Prog can be damn near anything (depending on who you ask). Alot of it will sound pretty hashy (not a drug reference) on any high resolution system. As stated earlier, this is often because of analog transfer crimes. Most of the RIO (Rock In Opposi...
anyone heard of John Nitzinger?
Jeeez, that triggers some flashbacks. Owned or borrowed most of the Bloodrock and Nitzinger stuff. If memory serves, Lee Pickens pulled off the more acrobatic leads in Bloodrock. Thought Ollie Hallsall (Patto), early B.O.C. Larry Coryell and the M...
Not recognized in their lifetime?
Hi Silab,I really like Herbie Nichols and i'm a big Tapscott fan. Haven't got into Newborn yet. A check on his discography has him on at least 40 records, where would you recommend starting?
