Tri-planar vs Graham
Hello again. I'm sorry I made the differences sound so big. I was referring to the Graham being so textured that other arms do sound less dense in comparison even though they are both incredible. As far as me having half a brain, I loaned my other ...
What is best CD player for my system ?
I work for an Audio dealer but I am recomending a few and I only sell one of them so I am being fair. I hope you have a dealer you can trust because that is the best.DCS (don't sell)Wadia modified by Great Northern Sound (do sell)Granit Audio (don...
Tri-planar vs Graham
The Graham is difficult to set up but Graham consistently has made the best sounding arms decade after decade. The Graham is so open and quiet with dense harmonics that are a religious experience. The Tri-planar sounds sparse in comparison.
Rel Subs, 2 T1's or 1 B1
The T1 works best if you have concrete floors under the carpet. On floors where there is a crawl space or basement below the R series is much better.
Joseph Audio Vs. Von Schweikert Vs.?
Both speakers are great but work best with tube amps. Dunlavy is not in the league. Bright, harsh, and imaging like headphones. You have to set them wide and toe them in drastically because the off axis frequency sweep is + or - 18 db. Very bad an...
Vandersteen with?
You already have received good advice so I will just add to it. I agree that the Def Techs are not even close and agree that Joseph Audio and Vienna are good substitutions. If you go with the V's I don't think Parasound is the best match but it is ...
Bookshelf Speakers for Jolida 707A - Suggestions?
Another speaker to add to the list would be the Vienna Acoustics Haydn because they are easy to drive and have a little sparkle to the top end that will make the amp open up. They have a huge sound stage and are warm but not thick.A speaker that s...
Acurus A-150 v. Musical Fidelity X-150
It depends on the rest of your system and matching. The X-150 has an odd sound with a pinched upper midrange but it is still pleasant to listen to. The Acurus is harsh and bright with a metallic, spitty top end. This works if your speakers are sof...
Over the top
I agree with the use of a REL sub. The above problems with subs have not been an issue with REL because there is a specific set up procedure involving placement where the sub works with the room instead of against it.Also, REL subs are tunable wit...
Possible to use sub without preamp?
Hevac1 is correct as well but most high performance subs don't have speaker hookups except for REL which actually comes with a hook up cable that hooks to the back of your amp.
Proceed AMP-2 & AMP-3 operating temps
If anything the Balanced should run warmer only because there would be more gain but that is only if you didn't calibrate the Pre-Pro and gad everything set to the same volume. If it is calibrated then it should not make any difference at all. Wha...
Fuse blown on RB-1080 with new pair of DynAudio's
I forgot to say that you need to make sure you are using slow blow fuses. Rat Shack seldom has fuses for Rotel becuase they are unusual.
Simaudio I-7 or Pass INT-150
It's all in the matching as I said. The Plinius is actually more musical but because the Dynaudio's are already warm and smooth the Pass would be a better match. Other great matches would be the Primare. A good affordable match would be the Musica...
Simaudio I-7 or Pass INT-150
With anything it has to do with how it works with the rest of your system. They are closer to each other than different. They both have good soundstages with the Pass being better in this area. They both have a slight metalic shimmer in the highs t...
Fuse blown on RB-1080 with new pair of DynAudio's
This would be the advantage of buying from a real dealer. You most likely did not damage the speakers and you can use an ohm meter to verifiy that there is not a short. (Unless the voice coil is shorted in a certain postion during cone travel on th...
