Ayre amplifier to Subwoofer connections
Revisiting this topic, one of the downsides of the chassis ground connection scheme, at least with my REL, is that when the Ayre is turned off but the REL left on, the REL hums. Drewh1, do you experience the same thing?
How does one get off the merry-go-round?

Thanks a lot, guys. Al, you are a treasure!

It's an R-205 and, yes, it uses a 3-prong power cord.I've lifted the ground. Sound seems to be the same either way.
Ayre amplifier to Subwoofer connections
This is an interesting and timely topic as I just today picked up an AX-7 to play around with. I connected my REL to it the way I normally would, with the one black lead connected to one channel's "-" terminal. Drewh1, did Ayre suggest what to use...

Your friend is wrong.

In one case, it was direct. In the second, I don't remember, but its character was clearly evident in a direct comparison with the Weiss Medea.

If you use a preamp and don't need the built-in volume control, and if you can live without HDCD decoding, I recommend you listen to the Bryston BDA-1. I haven't done a head to head comparison, but I'm fairly confident the Bryston is in the same b...

The Wavelength products have only USB input and neither the Weiss nor the BADA have USB, though the Weiss Minerva has Firewire in.
bryston 4b sst- could you or should you turn
Does it sound bad to you when you listen to after it's been off?
Upgrade from Benchmark Dac?
I have at least 3x the cost of the DAC 1 on it's powerDoesn't that strike you as a bit...ah...wacko?
Upgrade from Benchmark Dac?
If you are doing USB and only USB, then you might consider one of the Wavelength USB DACs or the forthcoming Ayre USB DAC. Another approach would be to add an Empirical Audio Offramp (converts USB at up to 24/96 to SPDIF, AES/EBU and I2S), then yo...
How does one get off the merry-go-round?
Because that's what Internet radio is.This is mainly about changing the way I source music. Getting out of the gear hobby is an added bonus.

What's your reasoning, Tbg?
