Fedex Warning: $100 Limit Insurance on Ground
It would be nice if MBE were effectively UPS's retail outlets, but that's not the case. They charge a huge premium, but how else are they to make money? Even if UPS gives them a cut.
Speakers that sound like Thiels on steroids.
The Thiel subwoofer has been out as a home theatre piece, but the electronics to use it propoerly in a two-channel system are not yet out, that's my understanding. When it's ready, however, the combination with the 2.3's might meet all of your nee...
Proac owners......advice please
I have 2.5's in a room exactly the same size as yours. I have no problems with bass dominance and vocals are exceedingly smooth. However, I find the bass a bit loose and not entirely easygoing--it always sounds like the speakers are having to work...
Review: Sony SC-D777es CD Player
I'm considering having my 777 modified. I appreciate that putting premium parts in all the right places is a no-brainer, but you are still left with the basic digital architecture of the Sony and not the latest chipset, upsampling, and so forth. H...
EMC 1 MK II vs Ayre CX-7 Cd player????????
I had a CX-7 for about a month and was not terribly thriled with it. Others would disagree, however.
$4500 amp beat out the Tenor OTL in the latest TAS
While I don't know this to be true, I suspect HP doesn't get out much. By which I mean that most of what he listens to are statement products from the upper echelons of the high-end. I don't fault him for this--a broad perspective on the market is...

Review: Plinius 8200 Amplifier
cpdunn99--great review. I have some experience with this amp and find your description of its initial sound to be very close to what I heard, and very insightful.I'd like to know what you have to say about this amp a month from now. I mean no disr...
Dylan SACD-good news.
Brulee, if you have a TT, try the new mono Dylan issues from Sundazed. You'll get Bob in the room.
Aerial 7bs or Proac Response 2.5?
I am in the throes of making a switch from the ProAc 2.5 to (probably) the Thiel 1.6 Strange, I know, but there you have it. After living with the Thiels, I have come to find the ProAcs unacceptably confused sounding and unresolving. Your Vandy's ...
are there 2-ways that go down flat to around 40?
The Thiel 1.6 is flat to about 40 in my room, then falls off a cliff. The ProAc 2.5 has usable bass to the mid-20's in my room.
HELP Electrocompaniet stole Christmas
I would contact EC directly--call them in fact. If they have any integrity at all, they will do right by you.
Quietest amplifier you have ever owned.
Sean, as I read his post, his point was only to poke fun at the notion of evaluating a system without music playing. I didn't see any references to measurements or specs or any of the things you objected to. Maybe I missed it.
Quietest amplifier you have ever owned.
Sean, I didn't understand your earlier snipes at pbb, where Norm was first mentioned. I wonder if you read something into his post that wasn't there, because your reply seemed a total non sequitur.
Why do digital cables sound different?
"Yes" is the short answer. I don't necessarily agree, but that seems to be the point of view of this community.
