THE Show - worth going? If you go to T.H.E. Show, you also go to CES. The CES "Specialty Audio" section is in the adjacent hotel. Together, these shows have just about everybody you'd want to see, far more exhibitors than at the Stereophile shows.

Alpha Core MI2 vs Audience AU24 speaker cable I am the only one who wonders about the usefulness of this comparison for a CAR audio system?
Powercords $1000 that beat VH Audio cords It's the Kimber PK-10 Palladian, about $1080 new. But HP has recently decided, apparently, that the Nordost Valhalla PC is king of the heap. $2500.At a recent local audiophile society listening session, most participants preferred the Kimber to th...
Powercords $1000 that beat VH Audio cords Krisgel, haven't you found some system dependency here? What works best with one preamp may not work best with another. Add in your Hydra and the rest of your system and there are a lot of variables to contend with. What preamp are you using?

Best $4000-$5000 loudspeaker I own the Thiel 2.4, but if you like the Thiel sound, you might want to explore getting the 1.6 with the small Theil sub, or some other sub. The 1.6 has better low-volume performance than the 2.4.

Who has heard the new Avalon's? I pretty much agree with you. I used to own the Eclipses and I read that book cover to cover several times. I always felt, however, that its arguments about the bass were a bit specious--he said something about the Avalon approach conveying what t...
Questions for Roy Johnson of Green Mountain Audio Yes, why would you ask those question here and in the form of a new topic? I smell a rat!
Who has heard the new Avalon's? The Classic and the Ascent (and the Radian and Monitor, I think) were the original designs of Avalon's founder, Charles Hansen, now of Ayre. Every model since then has been designed by someone else and so it is reasonable that the design objective...
Rives PARC or Tact 2.0 AA for room correction? Mprime, adding the extra A/D and D/A is too steep a price to pay if vinyl is the pride of your system. If CD playback is your primary source (not SACD or DVD-A), then digital room correction makes sense. IMHO, of course.
Rives PARC or Tact 2.0 AA for room correction? Robert E Greene is on the faculty at UCLA.
Transport for a Dodson DAC-263 What's wrong with your Arcam?
Rives PARC or Tact 2.0 AA for room correction? The TacT does its correction in the digital domain, so it has to either get a digital signal from your source component or convert an analog signal into digital. If you use the TacT, the preferred approach is to take the "digital out" from your CD... |
