Class A preamp or Class A amp
It is the total design of the product. Some great products are actually Class A-B. Cello was an example of great A-B.It is much easier for a company to make a preamp class A, than the amp.Go by the sound, not the specs!Richard(I use only Krell cla...
13' x 9' room big enough?
You might have a little trouble with: Two dimensions are the same, so that frequency will be reinforced. The brick wall will be very reflective.Otherwise, you could have a great mini-monitor setup.Richard
Hybrid SACD Question
One of my best sounding CD's is the CD layer of a hybrid disc. ... but the SACD layer is even better. Also, my $2900 SACD player out preforms my older, MUCH more expensive, Krell set-up buy a long ways. Therefore, in my experience the answer to bot...
Review: Dali Euphonia MS4 Speaker
I agree that the Dali's are great speakers. I recently auditioned their biggest speakers and they are one of the two speakers (big Pipedreams, being the other), that could give my actively biamped B&W800's a run for the money.IMHO,Richard
Myrtle Wood
Twl,According to your discussion, it seems that the use of such a hard wood would be transmitting vibrations to the preamp (in my case a Krell KRC-HR), and in most cases that seems foolish. I haven't yet heard the SONIC result of the use of this w...
Audio cables for older McIntosh equipment?

Audio cables for older McIntosh equipment?
I use to use two 2105's (and C28) driving double Cello Amati's. I changed to one Krell KST-100 (and Krell KSL). It blew away the Mc's!I have since moved up the ladder with Krell.Richard
Pure Note Sigma PC compared
I agree completely with the "genius"!It also bettered the Soundstring (a little) and Top Gun (a lot) in the portrayal of inner detail. If you have a small, wimpy sounding system, where you need a lot more slam, other cables may be better for you. B...
If it were you, which non-Sony SACD?
I agree with 84audio:Buy a used Marantz SA-14 (or new if you can find one). It was a steal, even at the new price. The main tweek is placing it on a Neuance platform. Richard
I just sold my cd player what should i get?
I personally was very specific as to which Marantz.... the SA-14.It is in a class by itself. It's performance is totally out of line with its low price. I cannot speak for the unit you mentioned.Richard
help ? settting up high pass alignment filter
Do you have the owner's manual for the Levinson? It should tell you how to hook up a tape recorder. It will be the same for the filter. If you don't, I'll check my Krell and see how they do it. (probably similar)Richard
help ? settting up high pass alignment filter
Pretend it is a tape recorder: Go from the tape out of the preamp to the input of the filter, then from the output of the filter to the tape input of the preamp. The filter will only be in the system, when you press the tape monitor switch.Hope thi...
help ? settting up high pass alignment filter
You can just put it between the preamp and amp, if you are not running you amp balanced or:You can put it in your tape loop, (which I prefer) whether or not you are running balanced. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me...
looking for best isolation platform for CD player
I agree with TBG: I use the Neuance platform mounted atop my custom wooden stand. The impovement with my CD playback was amazing.Richard
B&W Nautilus 803 & Musical Fidelity A3
I think that your lack of sufficient power may be your problem. B&W's need power! .. The more, the better!I have way over 600 watts per channel on my B&W's and they are rated at 93db sensitivity. Although I have never passively biamped my ...
