@yogiboy Accent on Music received my Rega P8, which had a Apheta 2 cartridge, which was 3 years old with maybe 90 hours on it.  Apparently the left channel of the cartridge just went silent!  The wires are attached inside the cartridge, and the to...
Best Desktop Speakers under $500
Also, you need to decide if you want active speakers (with a built in amplifier) which would be more compact for the top of a desk, or if you want passive speakers, which will require an amplifier, etc.
16 bit vs 24 bit vs 35 bit vs 36 bit vs 64 bit DAC sampling
@itsjustme What do you perceive as the greatest challenges and areas for digital to excel? Thanks.
16 bit vs 24 bit vs 35 bit vs 36 bit vs 64 bit DAC sampling
@alan60 I hope this doesn't turn into a "this is better" or "that is better" thread, but I have listened to a high end dCS SACD player in my system before I purchased the Esoteric, and it sounded much worse than my 15 year old Musical Fidelity pla...
16 bit vs 24 bit vs 35 bit vs 36 bit vs 64 bit DAC sampling
@audioman58 Your recommended article seems to explain much about the discussion. The article does immediate clarify one thing that I have noticed: older late 1950’s recordings sound much quieter and clearer on the Esoteric with the much higher bit...
16 bit vs 24 bit vs 35 bit vs 36 bit vs 64 bit DAC sampling
@audioman58 If 20 bits is all that is possible, why are the engineers chasing the bit rate higher to 64 bit rate now?  I suppose there's alot of people who don't understand what they are doing with the bit rate?  Maybe this is this akin to selling...
16 bit vs 24 bit vs 35 bit vs 36 bit vs 64 bit DAC sampling
@djones51So, most of the markedly improved sound that I hear is from the improved transport stability, and more precise laser reading, and not from the 35 bit sampling?  There must be some other software aspect to the improved sound as well. . .
16 bit vs 24 bit vs 35 bit vs 36 bit vs 64 bit DAC sampling
@jasonbourne52Well, around the same time I plugged in my new Esoteric K-01X and started playing it, with 35 bit sampling, a rabid bat did attack a man in my county!
16 bit vs 24 bit vs 35 bit vs 36 bit vs 64 bit DAC sampling
@jasonbourne52The manufacturers seem to indicate in their literature that the bit sampling is how much the digital steps from the signal are smoothened to sound more analog.

@yogiboy Thanks for sharing this link. The left channel on my Rega P8 just went out while I was carefully moving the turntable from one shelf to the next. I just called Accent on Music in Mt. Kisco, NY, and they were glad to be of assistance. I’ll...
The extinction of human interaction takes yet another step forward...
I think that's a good observation, but let's zoom out by another factor:  how about audio recordings, listened in the privacy of one's own home, also removing one from social interaction with other audiophiles, and the performers, themselves?
Esoteric K01X SACD player TRAY! error message
I'm very happy with the Esoteric K-01X after one week!  The only problem is playing the SACD of one label, but even playing CD on that Alia Vox label sounds phenomenal with the Esoteric, although I'm sure the Yamaha is good as well.
Atma-Sphere MA-1 tube rolling
@crowdaddy2Insofar as I know, the best way to find a failed tube is trial and error:  you should have a second full set on hand anyways.  If replacing all the tubes doesn't work, send back to manufacturer for check-up.  Ralph and Atma-Sphere will ...
Esoteric K01X SACD player TRAY! error message
@jafant Thanks for sharing your experience.  I played SACD recordings by other labels, and they played fine, and sounded great.  It seems only to be a playback issue with only Alia Vox SACD, as the CD on Alila Vox sounds great.

@68pete Really not much info in it.  Have you read it?
