Ayon CD2 is AMAZING
Wig, are you calling the 1704K chip outdated? Sure they are no longer produced, mostly because true ladder DAC chips were expensive to manufacture compared to cheap to make Delta-Sigma DACs. My understanding is that Saber DAC is a hybrid ladder/De...
MSB DAC IV or dCS Paganini
MSB will be at RMAF this year. Should be intersting to see the Diamond DAC in person?
Auralex SubDude HD - Subwoofer Isolation Platform
Thanks for this post as I'm in the process of getting a pair of subs. Can anyone tell me the real difference between the SubDude and Gramma? I understand one is for sub and the other more for monitors but on their website there is a review link on...
Looking for warm sounding speakers
I agree with Ncarv, Sonus Faber are definately on the warm side. A little too on the warm side for my taste, but musical.
How many 'listen outside of the box' design?
I used to be a planar guy (owned Maggies and Apogees in the past), but box designs have come a long way. I'm now into box designs because I can get the bass dynamics and loudness levels I missed with the planar speakers, while still retaining the ...
APL Hi-Fi NWO-4.0SE CD Player Review
I think it uses a class A tube output stage. Not sure if transformer or capacitor coupled. 6moons did a review awhile back that has the info you seek.
APL Hi-Fi NWO-4.0SE CD Player Review
Unfortunately, I have yet to hear the latest 24 bit player (I don't think there is a true 32 bit DAC out there despite manufacturers claims) that outperforms a properly designed NOS 16 bit player (TDA1541 and the like). The newer players designed ...
APL Hi-Fi NWO-4.0SE CD Player Review
Problems with APL in the past have been long delays or even years to get an order after paying and constant upgrades that makes one wonder if it is the best. You always have to wonder if your unit will be supplanted by another "better" version in ...
Why I like my home system better than live music
Yea man, who are you responding to? But who wants to recreate live rock concert in their home unless you want to permantly damage your hearing?
Why I like my home system better than live music
Kbark, reasons why one enjoys his home system more than live music IS the original intent of the thread.
Why I like my home system better than live music
By "better" in the above post, I mean "more enjoyable" just in case someone tries to nit pick semantics.
Best U.S.A. speakers?
My top 5 in no particular order:Magnepan - My favorite was the Tympani IV but required very carefully setup. Haven't heard the 20s yet.Rockport - Much more musical speakers than Magico or YG Acoustics.Ridge Street Audio Design Sason - Best 2-way I...
Why I like my home system better than live music
Have we all been brain washed into thinking live music is better than reproduced without any qualification? For me that qualification is significant. Unamplified live music should be the reference provided it is performed in a high quality acousti...
Why I like my home system better than live music
The whole point of this thread was to share and get feedback on why I or you may think reproduced music could sound better than live. But I've noticed some will blindly state live is better than reproduced hands down. I agree only on limited (dare...
Why I like my home system better than live music
Kbark, I play the classical guitar so I know how acoustic guitar should sound like. With the right speakers and good recording, I can get fooled into thinking there is someone in front of me playing the guitar live. It's when you get into complex ...
