Cardas Clear Digital SPDIF
Thanks all. So I borrowed a Clear AES/EBU from my dealer and I think you're all right.  The sound is a bit more open, with more instrument separation than the old Transparent Premium.  It's probably more accurate but a bit too lean in my system (...

@soix thanks. AZ are certainly well known around here from back in the day. @spearl8 that’s interesting because I also have the Transparent Premium AES/EBU. Why or how was the Cardas better to your ears?

@rird did you end up getting the Cardas or Kimber?

@erik_squires the DH Labs D-110 is a good budget option for sure. I used to swear by the good old Apogee too, but now I'm into Cardas Parsec for almost everything.

@casso did you try connecting the Cardas?  It never occurred to me before, but they must join XLR cables like this all the time in the pro audio world. Good reason they have locking connectors!

I agree Geist’s custom terminated Apogee is a good deal. I’ve had various lengths over the years and still use the BNC version today on my Naim NDX and Bryston BDP streamers. It’s nice that someone is still making them today, however the Cardas Pa...
Cable brands that work well with Cardas?
@decooney I am just reading your reply now however I came on to report recent developments. I will admit I did not give the Cygnus phono cable more than a few minutes of listening because it was too far off my expectations, however the Clear Refle...
Cable brands that work well with Cardas?
@decooney it’s the strong Thiel upper-midrange, which they are known for. The parsec speaker cable definitely tamed the tweeter a bit but it did not have very good bass, so I sold it. Still have some parsec XLR interconnects but they don’t seem to...

Almost forgot I had the SFCD-1 before the Processor 3. Anyway the tubes are usually just output buffers and not performing any gain function as they would in a preamp, so they don’t impart the real tube magic.

I do enjoy the stability and safety that the outriggers provide. I had a CAL Delta + Alpha DAC and Melos DVT long before I owned Thiels.  I currently have a Sonic Frontiers Processor 3 in my "all tube" basement system.  It's a great DAC but, like...

@cascadesphil Thanks for the tips. The room is treated, walls and ceiling, as much as possible in the current domestic situation. If I wanted to really see how bad it was, I would haul in my Anthem preamp from the HT and run ARC, but there’s not m...

@jafant thanks for the warm welcome. Glad I finally discovered this group. Four years ago I lucked out on a beautiful pair of 3.7 for sale in Toronto (within driving distance) with outriggers. I love the transparency of these speakers but I am at...
Cable brands that work well with Cardas?
I had all Cardas (mostly Parsec, some Golden Presence) and found that the Parsec speaker cables were holding back some much needed bass. So I tried some massive Clear Reflection cables which had awesome bass but unexpectedly set off my hot tweeter...

Hello @thieliste and everyone, I’ve been considering Gaia footers because there is good science behind them, but the 3.7s are so rigid and stable I have doubts it would make much difference. Hope others chime in with experience... Stefan
Opinion on SME 15
How much is a Model 15 without arm today?Looks like they are closer to £8000 in the UK now. Which probably means it’s $12k USD / $15k CAD.
