Aurender's "Sound"
@jaybe What speakers? What model Pass amp?I had an Aurender N-10 for a bit; I really liked it and preferred the COAX connection to my DAC at that time; I found it be very neutral and organic, perhaps a tad soft. I think I understand your original ...

Review on Bricasti Design M3 DAC
@speedbump6 you don’t need Roon to enjoy the M3; if u get the version with Ethernet, all you need is iPad or iPhone plus the MConnect app; in this MConnect app you configure Qobuz or Tidal or both , find your favorites then press play. Doesn’t get...
Why does a Music Server require high processing CPU power?
@djones51:I just got a Hi-Fi Berry Digi+ for my RPi3; Hoping to configure this soon. Did you have any issues with the setup you can share?I'm setting up another roon endpoint system in the house and had an RPi laying around. TIA!-Dave
Bricasti Design M1 SE - W/ LAN Network Streamer - Version 1.51 V. Denafrips Terminator
@chesebert I have been using the M3 with the ethernet module; I used the USB input as well and prefer ethernet (sounds better); @djones51 Over the past 24 months with numerous USB Dacs, streamers, servers, USB enhancement devices and cables, I hav...
Review on Bricasti Design M3 DAC
@teajayJust read it. Nice job!! If I may, your sentence ..." all rendered in an overall grain-less silky-smooth organic presentation" pretty much sums up my experience with the M3. It is immensely musical and coherent! I just keep going back to th...
Why does a Music Server require high processing CPU power?
@djones51 I read a lot in the Roon forums and what you are saying is consistent. I do no DSP, no up-sampling. I’ve experienced better sound quality from Qobuz and Tidal through Roon running on the Rock now too, not just DSD-64 albums on the intern...
Why does a Music Server require high processing CPU power?
@hgeifman Anecdotally, I can tell you the best sound quality I have yet experienced from Roon, was when I built a Roon ROCK off the spec for the Nucleus Plus (8th generation Intel i7 core, 1TB SSD, 16 GB RAM, 256GB internal SSD that hosts the OS; ...
Bricasti Design M1 SE - W/ LAN Network Streamer - Version 1.51 V. Denafrips Terminator
@chesebert i'm afraid to hear a high-end turntable setup, lol; I have never went down that path for better or worse. I do agree with you about digital streaming. I've been at this since 2007 when I first started messing around with Squeezeboxes an...
Bricasti Design M1 SE - W/ LAN Network Streamer - Version 1.51 V. Denafrips Terminator
@ddafoe I did not compare the M3 with the M1SE, but my dealer did and said that the latest version of M3 has a change to the main board that results in better sound over M1 (I think both flavors of M1); This assumes the fielded M1's have their ori...
Bricasti Design M1 SE - W/ LAN Network Streamer - Version 1.51 V. Denafrips Terminator
@yyzsantabarbara Not my experience but ymmv; Ethernet has consistently been the better choice. USB is a flawed interface for high end digital but we are stuck with it.
Bricasti Design M1 SE - W/ LAN Network Streamer - Version 1.51 V. Denafrips Terminator
Cheesebert they sure do. My former msb discrete had an Ethernet renderer.
Bricasti Design M1 SE - W/ LAN Network Streamer - Version 1.51 V. Denafrips Terminator
@thinman2  I have not heard the Denafrips but I have the latest Bricasti M3 with Ethernet bridge; I recently setup a Roon Rock on top 8th gen i7 NUC following Roon recommendations for every component; I love it. The Rock cost about 750 bucks all i...
I can prove your room is bad
I agree that we are listening to our speakers and the response of the room in a locked relationship of excitation/response.In an attempt to help a null around 85 Hz I got a bunch of GIK 244 series bass traps. Qty 4 24" x 24" squares (2 of those wi...
Pass labs x250.8 stereo amp in San Diego?
Excellent amplifier! Gets out of the way in the service of the music. Easy to get that emotional connection with Pass amps; built to a wonderful design spec, assembled by a consistent production team, and backed by one of the best companies in the...
