Vintage DD turntables. Are we living dangerously? Great new Halcro!! But seems like those JVC techs might have been cutting corners back in the day :-) touch wood, but the Pioneer Exclusive turntable did not have any corners cut. I guess that is why they offered lifetime servicing for all Exclus...
Vintage DD turntables. Are we living dangerously? Henry Good to see you coming over to the Pioneer way of thinking. DD with integrated plinth and more sophisticated suspension as you go up the food chain. There is also a QL-A75 with 980LZS cart for sale in Sydney - you might want to pick that uph...
Vintage DD turntables. Are we living dangerously? Halcro and LewmBad news re the Victor 101. Halcro and I have the same tech. He did mention when I had a problem with my P10 last year that the Victor 101 was incredibility complex. The Pioneer otoh was straight forward and quite simple it is circu...
Vintage DD turntables. Are we living dangerously? The Pioneer Exclusive P3 does not have a straight arm wand. The straight arm wand does sound a lot better than the S. Something you can find in Japan for time to time.
fabulous Technics EPC-100 series re-tip I sent my EPC-100 mk4 to Van Den Hul when the stylus fell off the cantilever and asked them to bring it back to as close to stk as possible. Why did I pick Van Den Hul? Raul recommended him as he had sent a mk4 and VDH has a Mk4 as one of his refe...
Vintage DD turntables. Are we living dangerously? Hi Lewm Great to hear your LO7D is up, running and sounding so good. That you prefer it slightly to the technics Mk3 is also interresting. Me, still using the Pioneer Exclusive P3 most of the time and its sounding absolutely superb. cheers
Any Love for the Pioneer PLX-1000 Yet? Yes, I have owned the PLX-1000 for a few months now and it is an excellent sounding table. For the price I would say the best value in turntables you can buy. IMO competitive to tables much higher in value. Great for the beginner and the audiophil...
Stillpoints LP Isolator Record Weight Amazing we have a manufacturer of a competiting product posting regularly in this thread about Still points trying to discredit and sell his products.Reaks of desperation and not sure why audiogin allow it, except that he advertises on audiogon

New direct drive turntables? Pioneer PLX-1000. Picked one up last week at a good price with the plans to ultimately give to my daughter, however she may be waiting a while :-) Frankly I am amazed with its excellent performance and for the $$, imo pretty unbeatable. DD start...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC? Chakster - Damm, There was a NOS EPS-P100ED4 stylus for the EPC-P100CMK4 available. I guess its gone now :-( I really coiuld have used that for mine. While the VDH re-tip is excellent, its not quite as linear as the original.

Why are records still warped? 180 gm vinyl sux. From Record Industries Europe's largest pressing plant. The records are transported by an assembly-line to a robotised storage system (the collator) where they will cool down for approximately 3 hours for 125 grams records and a ov...
Vintage DD turntables. Are we living dangerously? I have now compared the Jico leather mat with the custom rubber mat that comes with the Exclusive P3. Overall the leather mat has good transparency let down by a softening of the leading edge of instruments and a slight fattening of the sound in t...
