Eminent Technology ET-2 Tonearm Owners Thread DriveFor those interested in thread drive I own and have owned both a Final Audio VTT1 thread drive and the Platine Verdier referred to above. My understanding from Final Audio's point of view is that the optimum pulley profile should be he...
bent cantilever Throw it away.Your records are worth more than the price of a new cartridge, and as far as I'm concerned bent cantilever means increased risk of record damage from mistracking.
Time to choose: Baerwald, Lofgren, Stevenson ? If you buy an Eminent Technology air bearing linear tracking tonearm you won't need to worry about alignment at all, as there is no tracking angle error. Even your favourite 7" Conway Twitty records will sound fantastic. With regard to Dynavector a...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC? Raul,What evidence do you have that the JVC X1's are any different from the Victor X1's. Are the specifications different ?Given the age of these cartridges they most likely are not up to spec anyway and sample to sample variation could easily acc...
Experience with Tannoy Westminster Royal Gold Reference hddg,I currently use a modified Marantz 7 tube preamp with Brown Electronic Labs power amp built by Richard Brown. Linn Ittok vs SME 345 / 309 / V The Oracle 345 is an SME 309 with upgraded bearings ( from the SME IV ) and silver wire. It is a better arm than the Ittok but sound wise they are quite different - the Ittok has a neutral and emphatic sound whereas the Oracle is richer and fuller...

Vintage DD turntables. Are we living dangerously? lewm06-29-2016 3:43am"With an unsuspended mass-loaded turntable of any kind, that centrifugal force is absorbed and thus resisted by the mass of the supporting structure." Vintage DD turntables. Are we living dangerously? Halcro - yes I agree, Acoustic Plan's view on the importance of wow and flutter is a cop out, particularly for a statement product with a price tag to match. Any improvement in wow and flutter must improve the enjoyment of music per se - musical t...
Vintage DD turntables. Are we living dangerously? Halcro, yes but he ascribes the poor performance of belt drives with regard to wow and flutter to the belts - and as I pointed out in my post, the belt system used in the Acoustic Signature Invictus is flawed, along with the motors utilised not h...
Bad NOS tubes... Further to the above post, it can be useful to tighten (tension) the individual pin sockets in the tube sockets if they have been opened up over time by a bent or oversized valve pin. Better connectivity can reduce noise significantly.
Vintage DD turntables. Are we living dangerously? HalcroYou have edited out the most significant comment by Gunther Frohnhoefer of Acoustic Signature with regard to wow and flutter But, yes, the direct-drive motor will still produce better wow/flutter values b... |
