Getting back in the game
How deep do you want to dive in? Are your pockets able withstand the pressure of a few more fathoms? If so, then I encourage you to not do an all in one, but separates. Imo, half the fun of the hobby is the system building. :)

Tim, I am elated for you! I think you will realize a nice boost from the use of Y cables vs. The splitters, and additional improvement with higher grade wire in Y cables. I concur that schoeder Method is a superior upgrade to most other changes. :)
Tidal vs Hi Res Files vs CD vs “Netflix”. My test. Incredible!
Forgot to disclose I reviewed those digital components for Dagogo.com
Tidal vs Hi Res Files vs CD vs “Netflix”. My test. Incredible!
Imo the answer for why you obtained these results was simply that the Netflix rig was streamlined, more direct. Short signal path through same DAC will often sound cleaner. Stock computer doing file and streaming sources are poor in my experience ...
Selling my dads top of the line system
Take the help from Tammy here at Audiogon. Sell pieces individually. It’s very nice of Tammy to offer to help, and there are enough unscrupulous people who would take advantage of a novice seller like yourself.
System synergies: Chaotic or predictable?
Further, the speakers in my experience control the most profound aspects of a system's performance, and the rest of the components and cables the more intermediate aspects. There can be dozens of appreciable changes to a rig by swapping components...
System synergies: Chaotic or predictable?
My answer may have been too widely applied, so I will narrow it down. Having built many systems with particular components and cables, they do carry a sonic signature, and typically perform similarly in all rigs. That is so consistent that, knowin...
System synergies: Chaotic or predictable?
"Chaotic" is a poor descriptor, imo inappropriately applied to audio systems.  HiFi is not regimented like an army drill Corp, but neither is it a riotous mob. Lines form well at most venues predictably,  and audio systems are the same. When you w...

toolbox 149, your post is greatly appreciated, because it's another sincere, unbiased assessment of the profound influence of Schroeder Method. You bring up a good point. Skeptics often default to an objection that seems logical, even though it's ...
What differences should I be hearing as my new system breaks in?
You should be hearing an ever so slight improvement in sound holistically as the system depreciates. This is called Value Added Listening, or Burn In.  ;)

Tim, whatever you do, DO NOT COMBINE EVEN AND ODD NUMBERED PRODUCTS! ;)Just kidding; there are people here who have only done homogenous sets and those who have done mixed sets, as well as mixing brands. The results seem to be uniformly good eithe...
What have other owners of Tekton Design Ulfberht Speakers discovered?
teajay, that is very cordial of you, and I think a winning way to approach it. I recall a few instances where I had a difference of opinion and said to someone, "Come on over and hear for yourself." There certainly is no replacing the experience t...
What have other owners of Tekton Design Ulfberht Speakers discovered?
teajay, that’s not what I heard when I listened to the Impact monitor at AXPONA last year. I heard the same sort of indistinctness that plagues line source and array designs. I went from that room to the Ryan Audio room where I believe the S610 bo...
I lied to my wife about the price of Stax 009S headphone
I don't care to hear about your dsyfunctionality. Thank you.
What have other owners of Tekton Design Ulfberht Speakers discovered?
The notion that a large speaker cannot disappear is a misnomer. It is relatively easy for a large speaker to do this, and it does not take special technology, patents, promotion, etc. I did that with the Vapor Audio Joule White, the Kingsound King...
