Recommendation for a replacement speaker cable
At under $100, the Speltz Anticables are WAY beyond the others.  I had a hard time beating their sound until I spent $700 on a couple speaker cables.  Even then, parts of the sound were no better with the $700 cables.  Beyond that, you'd have to g...
An audio rack that really does make a difference.
I was able to mostly buy a used Star Sound Sistrum rack.  The moment I put my components on this, the sound was much more like live music with greater definition and dynamics.  It is a 3 leg rack but you can put 300 lbs. on each shelf.  I had a 5 ...
Phonostage recommendations under $3K
Aural Thrills Serenade at $1200 or their absolute best 'the Beast' at $2500 with the best parts used.  The Serenade was the Absolute Sound's s Product of the Year a couple years ago.  The Beast is a very large and even better sounding unit.  Tom K...
How long can I expect tubes to last on a preamp or MW CD player?
Just spoke with Brent today about the 6SN7 tubes and 5AR4GZ34 rectifier tubes. He seems to be hot on the RCA 6SN7 GT tubes and the Mullard GZ34 tube. I looked up my records in my emails sent and figured out I bought the DUDE in late 2016-early 201...

How long can I expect tubes to last on a preamp or MW CD player?
Thanks for the advice e.  I will try that out.  I have that record, not CD, however.  I will say that the system has been leaning slightly towards the left with most all voices.  Didn't used to do that.  I have the TRL DUDE preamp so it will takes...

elliottbnewcombjr,Thanks for the compliment--I resemble that remark.  It will change my life.  The rest of the comments were interesting reading and maybe helpful.

Thanks for the replies jjss49 and noromance.  Sounds like I'm well over.  The PPT stuff made such a difference in performance, I didn't notice the drop-off in SQ until this past week.
Need more slam! Help!
I had the early Von Schweikert Vortex Screens that were a clone of the Vandersteen 2C in looks, BUT...had better dynamics.  Had them for 18 years and loved the sound.  Your speakers sound very nice but more live dynamics are not the strong point o...
Who are your three favorite female singers?
You’re welcome nonoise. We were going to get to see Rickie Lee this spring prior to #19 at Axpona. Man, I was looking forward to that. Yes, her kicking up the dynamics from a soft note right through to very loud and the same thing on being able to...

Periphery outer ring thoughts ?
I had two different rings from TTW to use with a VPI Scout and then a Classic. I also had the TTW 2.2 lbs. centerweight. Both looked nice, and were reasonably OK to use, but non of the TTW stuff ever made an appreciable difference in the sound for...
Best "Bang for the Buck" you have owned?
The first VMPS 626R w/ most of the upgrades for $1200--new territory for sound in my system.  They had tremendous clarity, yet were not hard on the ears, then added a VMPS 215 sub w/ VSS upgrades for just $600.  The sound just got that much better...
Speaker upgrade question.
The Moab's also don't need a ton of power from the amp, but will give a very live sound with a powerful amp.  As for placing them close to a wall, you'd have to ask an owner to see if they would still be OK.  Better yet, ask Eric Alexander, the ma...
Speaker upgrade question.
How important are the speaker's looks?  If sound is the main thing, the Tekton Moab's  are THE hot speaker right now.  Tekton as a company is THE hot company.  I don't own their speakers but have heard a few of the bigger ones.  The Moab is a larg...
