What is your source for discovering new music?
Our local PBS / NPR station has some amazing music shows such as Brazilian on Wednesday nights, blues show on Friday nights, Mountain Stage, World Cafe and a show called Open Tunings. This combined with Amazon recommending music based on music I'v...
Integrated Amp recommendation
I'd go NAD. I gave mine to my now 19 year old son and I miss it like crazy. I'm running a tube integrated now, but if I ever see a 375 come up used for a good price, I'm going to grab it and put it in my closet to run in the summer time.
Best Speaker under $3K - New or Used
Do you have the ability to audition speakers in your area? I'm a fan of Harbeth. I also love everything Totem, but I haven't heard any Totem's since I bought my Harbeth's. Honestly, you're going to spin in circles with this if you can't audition l...
How to choose a good fiber optic cable??
Since I don't have any audio equipment I can use fiber with, I was wondering what types of connectors and fiber is used with audio gear. Is it similar to data as in 62.5 or 50 micron? I figure it must be since it's so readily available. If you're ...
heavy metal
Manowar.......are they still alive? I used to listen to them. They might be the first metal band ever.
Rogue Cronus Magnum-2 years and never tube rolled
I think I'm going to check out Ei 12AX7 / ECC83's. I thought I might be able to pick up some information from more recent Cronus owners. I'm just trying to figure out where the best place to buy them is. I'm not as concerned about the lowest price...
Robin Trower
I saw Trower once in the late 90's. Very good show but I don't own any of his stuff. Bridge of Size I remember being amazing live.
Great films where music is a central theme.
Herald and Maude (not sure if that's mentioned here). The best Cat Stevens ever.
Toots Thielemans
Okay, so I just played Brasil Volume 1 from beginning to end. It's excellent, although 'Aquarela Do Brasil' is quite a bit better IMHO. I do love the line up on Volume 1 with Gilberto Gil and Milton Nascimento, but there's something about the Elis...
Live Performances Gone Awry
Jeffl225......funny how Perry can't remember squat, yet Keith Richards can play an entire catalog of Stones tunes without skipping a beat at a live show. Maybe we should think about drug tests for candidates?
Live Performances Gone Awry
Oh boy.
Toots Thielemans
Frogman.. yes. Thanks for asking. I just ordered his 'Brasil Project' disc from Amazon because I'm loving the 'Aquarela Do Brasil' so much. Toot's and Elis Regina were an amazing match up.
Miles Davis LIVE in Europe 1967: The Bootleg Serie
Thanks everyone. No, I'm not the guy that only plays the best recordings. I'm just a listener and enjoyer. I listen to all my music from beginning till end and I don't dwell on the recording itself, but instead on the content.
Toots Thielemans
Orpheus10. This is some great information. Thank you. I'm really loving this music, and stumbled upon it because I'm a huge Ellis Regina fan (Brazil). You would really like 'Aquarela Do Brasil'.
Speaker Stand Design?
I would use low mass on carpeting and high mass on wood. That works for me with C7's. I now use Skylan's filled with kitty litter on hardwood floors and it blows away low mass. I can't get a glass of water to ripple sitting on the floor. Hope this...
