VPI MOTOR PULLEY ??
I think the problem is that Matt no longer wants to deal with customers directly. It takes too much time in his opinion. They set up a forum on their site to stop the constant Emails that need to be answered, thus eliminating an employee, for "supp...
Yes "Fragile" How great of an album is it?
Owned a few Yes albums - "Fragile", "Yes Songs", "Close to the Edge"Played them a few times, and never got into them. Purged them from my collection.
solid state amp power
I have owned Pass Labs XA30.5 and XA60.5 amps and although they are fairly warm to the touch, they did not heat up my medium sized room at all!Put the amps on stands, and they will run cooler, than on a shallow shelf or directly on the floor. The m...
ARC LS27 vs ModWright LS36.5 for Pass Labs XA160.5's?
If you can afford the XA160.5, I would go with at least the Pass XP-20, or the XP-30.Personally I would look at $10,000 plus list price preamps.

terry9Of course caps make a big difference, and ARC has used very good exotic caps since the 80s, in their equipment. But only in the last 10 years did ARC preamps take 600 hours to break in. That is 10 months, at 2 hours per day, on average. Can y...

I do not like the reliability issues, and changing sound quality of tube power amps.My Pass Labs XA.5 amps sound better than tubes. To each their own.

elem79I have owned many old ARC pieces, but only have one SP9 MKIII left, that is not used.I use all Pass Labs amplification now, and prefer them over ARC.

oregonpapaI have toured the ARC factories in the past, and they have not changed their manufacturing! The older gear was just as good sounding IMO! They have a slightly different flavor of sound now, that’s all.
Loudspeakers have we really made that much progress since the 1930s?
jonkWere you alive in the 30s, to hear all the "then new" speakers, that people listened to, in their homes in the 30s?
A friend told me JBL DD67000 is actually very bad speaker, is it true?
Tidal, Kharma, YG, Magico, Vivid G1, Grande Focal and German Physikspeakers are all mediocre IMO. So is JBL.

600 hours to fully break in??? LOL!The only thing ARC has done in the last 15 years is put in crazy capacitors.Long live the old ARC classics, without long break in, and comparable sound quality.

What has your audiophile experience taught you about yourself?
That 95% of all audiophiles are not rational, and unscientific fools!
looking for ideas on a tube pre amp
Ditch the Focal's, they do not compare to the 20.1's!The 20.1's deserve the best amplification.$2500 is too cheap a preamp.
Is it possible for the center image to drift from lp to lp?
Get a preamp with a balance control!I do not know why any home audio system would leave that out!
