Best imaging and sounding bookshelf speaker
For imaging, coaxial speakers are hard to beat. I second the KEF LS50. And if you can find them on second hand, Thiel MCS-1s tho they are on the large side of "bookshelf". I have always loved Thiels so here are some more - PCS1 and SCS4.
DAC doesn't recognize hi-res files
@77jovianYes, JRiver for Mac also bypasses the OS's audio playback engine. So it will adjust the sample rate according to the source file. JRiver has the option to enable Direct/Exclusive Access to the audio device and can also operate in Integer ...
DAC doesn't recognize hi-res files
You have 2 options.1. Open up Audio MIDI SetupIt's in Applications/Utilities or you can search for the program using Spotlight.Click on the device for your USB DAC. It should say C50 or something.Click on the "Output" tab.Set the format to 192kHz....
Advise on 7.1 Channel Surround System & Speaker
Here's my suggestion:Get 4 pairs of KEF LS50 or 3 pairs + 1 if your dealer can swing it. At 1.5k a pair, it's about 6k for the speakers for 8. The benefit? You get identical speakers that if you place correctly - you can listen to multi channel Pu...
How to configure Jriver 19 to Airport Express
You may have to purchase AirFoil which does what OS X's audio controls do - maps the Airport Express (and Airplay devices in the network) to an Audio Device in Windows Control Panel - Devices/Sound. That way JRiver will just see it as another audi...
Need advice for HT LCR and HT Processor Upgrade
I don't often see many Thiel owners :) but I currently use a Thiel 11.2 system with CS3.7s, SS2.2s, MCS1 and PowerPoint and PowerPoint 1.2sI also have a third sub - JL f113 for the LFE channel. They are excellent. But I am not sure if it is going ...
How to configure Jriver 19 to Airport Express
JRiver allows you to configure itself to scan for music library changes for auto import. One workaround on the PC is to use iTunes to maintain your main music library. So you can still use it to send music via Airplay to your Airport Express (not D...
How to configure Jriver 19 to Airport Express
Airplay is supported as an audio device in Mac OS X. So you can set the Airport as the default Core Audio Sound Device and set JRiver's Audio output to go through Core Audio. But I gather you are using a PC?
emmlabs cdsa-se vs esoteric 05
If you don't need SACD playback, I'd suggest listening to the Playback MPS-3. It's also a good foundation for a computer audio system - handling DSD2x and PCM 24/384 as well. I have the MPS-5 and it is very close to the EMM Labs XDS-1. The XDS-1 i...
Need advice for HT LCR and HT Processor Upgrade
I'd consider the Marantz AV8801 or the upcoming replacement the AV8802.You should see improvements with a dedicated pre/pro vs an AVR but more importantly, the Marantz incorporates Audyssey MultiEQ XT32 (and Pro compatible) which would improve the...
OPPO 105; how to beat it and at what price?
I guess there are a lot of questions that need to be answered first. Is it used for a stereo system only or for multichannel? Is it to be used for music or movies? What will the Oppo be hooked up to?What formats do you play? DVDA? SACDs? CDs? BDs?etc...
Weiss Medus vs. EMM Labs DAC2X
Is the Weiss also based on the Sabre32 chipset?I dunno about you, but I always find it hard to stomach the high prices for DACs built using off the shelf chips.I'd get the DAC2X mainly because I know EMM actually builds their DACs using discrete c...
DAC significantly better than a w4s DAC2-DSDse?
I haven't heard the PS Audio DS DAC in person yet but my friend has heard it and he's raving quite a fair bit :)This is against the Mytek DSD, the Bel Canto DAC3.5VB II, the Meitner MA-1 among others.
OPPO BLU RAY PLAYERS
I don't know about you but if I were a movie studio, I'd keep banking on the BluRay wagon for a bit longer. Most BR movies log in at about 40-50GB with special features and multiple languages. Even the smallest ones are about 25-30GB. In Australia,...
Best music server for the money
Yes I readyour post. But it wasn't immediately clear if you bought the components and assembled it yourself or got the seller to build it.If it is the former, it's IMHO not something I'd recommend a non computer savvy person to embark on. If it is...
