Anybody using the last record preservative Is there no spätlese extra virgin? Not to mention auslese or trockenbeeren auslese? Happy days at the Friday night Practice tasting session with the vintner in attendance!
Comparison of sonic qualities of some tonearms I have not opened the links, why would I, and The Links are more than adequate to experience the Sat TA. ...appear to be at odds. Can you help me with that?
Comparison of sonic qualities of some tonearms The difficult part is to get both records to start playing exactly in sync for stereo..... The really funny part is that I once did exactly that to compare two cartridges mounted on the same arm on the same tables.
Comparison of sonic qualities of some tonearms Correct me if I'm wrong, but do we not agree that tonearms do affect sound quality, and the point of this thread is how best to assess that? After all, if they do not, then it shall make no difference which one we buy or use. As for how to check ...
Anybody using the last record preservative I have a few cans of GruvGlide, which I don't use. I bought them many years ago when I thought they might be a good idea. They do smell delicious though, and if I ever get into huffing they might be useful.
Comparison of sonic qualities of some tonearms It is highly unusual for anyone to have two of exactly the same turntables I never claimed to be ordinary! 😉
Comparison of sonic qualities of some tonearms I suspect a lot of us are "neurodiverse" if that counts!
Anti skating SME V A curious result with the Wally Skater: it replicated the grooveless record's results, but reduced them by the same percentage (~30%). So the three arms that the grooveless record required a setting at "3" are now set a smidgen over "2." The fourt...
Comparison of sonic qualities of some tonearms Olden tech! I prefer to think of it as classic equipment for classic ears.
A Second Tonearm on an SME Model 10 You're right, I am proud of it! And I think it is short-sighted of SME not to offer a kit for sale on the grounds that we Model 10 owners really ought to knuckle down and buy a few new tables instead.
A Second Tonearm on an SME Model 10 From left to right: 1. M10/309 usually sports an MP-500, mostly because I'd rather change a stylus than arrange for a re-tip when playing a disk for the first time. The MP-500 also sounds far better than it should for a 1k cartridge. Spare headsh...
A Second Tonearm on an SME Model 10 Why, thank you, Raul!
Why don't we tire of music? @mulveling There's a plausible reason to suggest that most of the regulars on sites like this have never had to worry about losing their virginity....
Anti skating SME V On all four arms?
A Second Tonearm on an SME Model 10 Second table done today: Not so much a matter of heroics, but being cheap. I see SME now sell a dual arm version of the Model 12, for £15k, so a pair would be $29.6k CDN after tax. These cost me nearly nothing as I already had the tonearm panel... |
