People with Plamsa TV's....mounting A/V Components
I agree with remotely locating the equipment, it's far sexier to have a plasma on the wall and run the power and component video wires thru the walls/ceiling into a closet nearby, or a media cabinet where you can have the pre/pro, amp, dvd-p, dvhs...
Making a PC into a digital CD Jukebox
g5 + decent optical cable + bel canto dac 2 (auditioning) is what i'm using as source right now and i'm quite happy. iTunes lets you rip to full AIFF uncompressed, using error correction, and apple's audio/midi utility lets you insure 16/44.1 raw ...
Bloated bass and the panasonic digital receiver
your dad wasn't at least worth Rotel, NAD, Integra, Marantz or similar? Unless you have circuit city stock, *tsk tsk* :D just teasing you of course, but what concerns me is "party mode" - is there some kind of stereo/direct/2ch mode? or is that wh...
jolida 302a + totem arro / pre-out for sub?
rbstehno, I don't know how the lightning slipped my mind, I've heard so many great things about it from someone I know who has one... and a lot of folks on here rave about the rel stuff. jh20s, SS isn't out of the question, but I am currently borr...
Dipole/Bipole Speakers on Rear Wall?
why not go with in-ceiling speakers (with aim-able tweaters like the B&Ws, and aim it back to refelct from the back wall)?
Review: 2004 Acura TL XM/CD/DVD-Audio System
I drove one two weeks ago, everything about that car impressed me, esp. the bluetooth phone integration, the touchscreen navi, and the audio system for a stock car setup was quite enjoyable (not bright/tinny/boomy as sooooo many are these days).
subwoofer for B&W 805sig
i have cdm-1 NT's (which i consider to be a slightly less refined / cheaper version of the 805 - similar portint, driver, tweater, construction, size etc) and i recently got a velodyne dd10, and found that it's quite versatile for both music and m...
Rotel 1072: Deserving of product of the year?
while it's not the best CDP i've heard, i felt it had a decent amount of punch and dynamic and was very accurate for its price point. no audio flaws to speak of, clbeanz's nit-picks are pretty accurate (i actually like the small remote).
EMI/RFI interference from hard drives...need help
try an external soundcard?
beware ipod
so, because of one isolated incident we should all be wary? i'm not going to stop driving cars because someone had one die. same with my iPod. my 40gb has been perfect out of the box and continues to be so. i'm terribly sorry yours is fubar'd and ...
The Great Cryo'd Outlet Test
stehno, did you, as mentioned above, own the very same outlet (non-treated) and have everything the same in your system, or was the improvement due to upgrading the outlet in general (treated or not)?
need more smoothness
i'd blame your speaker cable and mostly, your NAD cd player... when i doubled up on CV-6 speaker cable my highs went from being forward-in-your-face to quite laid back and smooth. other big improvements in taming the nautilus tweaters were good po...
Audioquest Battery Pack comparation
i don't believe you can just switch batteries to a different voltage...v=i*r so if you go with 2*v then you need to change something, and you can't change the resistance so you'd somehow have to limit it to half the current to stay within the para...
Better to copy disk to disk or through image file?
i've found low-speed disk-to-disk (two reasons - to allow for lower write speed / less write errors, and to allow the error correction to read the best it can) is what i prefer, however doing an error correction enabled read to an image and then a...
Every new substance is a candidate isolation tool
I prefer Filet over pork chops. The pork chop seemed to smear the midrange and dull the highs :D
