iPod help needed...
Apple Lossless is a great way to keep file sizes down (I currently have about 160gb of AIFF raw on an external FW disk), but I would recommend AAC 320 as well. The DAC and op-amps in The iPod are QUITE good, but not so good that most would hear a ...
Apple Lossless Wirelessly
Dimitri, where are you getting that AirTunes is 'b' ? According to apple..."AirPort Express uses the 802.11g wireless standard. Accessing the wireless network requires an AirPort or AirPort Extreme enabled computer or Wi-Fi-certified 802.11b or 80...
How do i encode a HDCD on PC?
i thought microsoft bought hdcd (hence why wm9 etc has it).
Advice on Setting Up A Laptop-Based Audio System?
I have about 160gb of uncompressed CD/AIFF music, and I was NOT impressed with the Transit, terrible drivers, and the output via optical was sub-par compared with my rotel RDV-1060 dvd player. We're not talking about a 'subtle' difference either, ...
Does anybody have Totem Arro's and CJ tubes?
btrvalik, I think the stuff from totem blows away the 805 (regular, haven't heard the sig). the 805 would have been the next logical step for me to take, from CDM 1NTs but I didn't feel it was enough of an improvement for the money, and preferred ...
Totem Lynks dipole?
well, i've got the lynks all setup and broken in finally, i'm happy with them - it's hard to say 'wow' as, well, the whole point is NOT noticing them, but that's fine with me! :)
Totem Lynks dipole?
I had CDM 1NTs before, great speakers, but these image so much better, have far better bass extension, and are more transparent.I would think the hawk would match when it came to the tweeter (what I tend to notice most in HT) but the mid-driver co...
Totem Lynks dipole?
thus far i'm quite impressed, the fit-and-finish is typical totem 'excellent' - and the included mounting hardware is slick!! they're still breaking in and will be for several weeks likely but so far so good, i mean, it's a surround dipole, hard t...
Totem Lynks dipole?
well, i went ahead and ordered them - i guess i'll be the first to offer u a review...
Modded my Jolida 302a tonight, WOW
I am still waiting to hear from Jolida re: the parts for the volume control, but I'm actively persuing it. FWIW, I hear they are coming out w/ a remote volume control themselves, probably be in-line like the Creek (basically a passive pre-amp) but...
How many years before MP3 becomes king?
Yes, people prefer convenience over the ultimate high-end differences for the most part today, but my point is, you can have all that at your fingertips, WITHOUT the horrible mp3 artifacts. Heck, even with current technology, I can put roughly 50-...
Does anybody have Totem Arro's and CJ tubes?
I simply happened to have a 12ft length of single tress sitting around and wanted to hook them up and start listening. i much prefer the sound of it over the type-2 I had kicking around and even feel it bests CV-6 (the AQ had more bass extension b...
How many years before MP3 becomes king?
I agree / strongly feel that with how cheap hard-drive space and bandwidth is becoming, there's no reason to further compress a nowhere near perfect format like CD. What I expect the market to (eventually) do is move to a non-local / streamed form...
Modded my Jolida 302a tonight, WOW
I'm trying some JAN Philips 12AT7 driver tubes, and will probably be ordering some Ei 12AX7s shortly and perhaps some EHs as well.RE: the remote volume, I think she's about to go 'under the knife' again but a bit more drastic, perhaps to the exten...
Does anybody have Totem Arro's and CJ tubes?
i'm using them with a jolida 302a, i've also listened to them on a variety of solid state gear (this is my first tube piece) and found the sound to be different but by no means unpleasant. i do believe my jolida is not the same level of build qual...
