IC for Moon/Revel
Ok, I've took Warrenh's advise as an action item... NAD has gone, and I've got Simaudio Moon Nova CDP, which I find just amazing from every and each point of view. Now the weakest link remained is ICs. Nova sounds so good, so I'm pretty confused w...
SimAudio Nova/Eclipse owners: IC of your choice?
I've got Moon Nova => Moon i-5 => Revel M20. More opinions, please? Anyone tried Acoustic Zec, Harminic Tech, Cardas, whatever?
Neutrally sounding CDP with a good resolution?
UPDATE: I have found my ultimate CD player, perfecty matching to Moon i-5 integrated. It happened to be Moon Nova. Straigt out of the box it amazed me by rich, and full, yet very clear sound, and enormously natural tonal balance. And I have to men...
Isolation/coupling: basics?
Guys, extraction/write speed doesn't directly relate to a sound quality, it depends on HOW do you extract the audio data to HDD, and what CD-R drive you use to write it back.Getting back to the subject :)... Sean, you play a lot with isolation. Yo...
Hard Disk Playback Systems
How do you, guys, handle emi interference? If you connect sound card using SPDIF, AFAIK it'll be affected by RF noise. Another option is TOSLINK, but it's by itself compromises sound quality. And, jitter: how do you know your card produces low jitt...
Isolation/coupling: basics?
Eldartford, just to make sure, are you sure Reed-Soloman error correction is implemented in regular CD players? It seems that CDP and long distance signal transmission are very different applicaitions; this method seems to be good when you need to...
Isolation/coupling: basics?
Eldartford, do you mean that for SS gear this issue is not really an issue? Do you use any kind of isolation/coupling yourself? In regards to CD players, I just don't get it. Optical reading mechanism reads data, and it doesn't really know what kin...

CD player for a warm system
Have you tried Moon Nova?
Neutrally sounding CDP with a good resolution?
Hi Kleech, nice to hear from you. Thank you for your advice. After I tried Linn and another Marantz I realized that it's all about Marantz house sound, and while I admit it sounds good in general, it just doesn't appeal to me considering the kinds...
HELP: how to compensate too laid-back source
Ern and Slappy, I think I'm taking taking your advise. From your and other posts I realized that my issue is not about a fine tuning of the system. It's about a sound character in general: Marantz has its own house sound, warm and laid-back, and i...
Neutrally sounding CDP with a good resolution?
Socrates, your "can't imagine anyone missing anything from the NAD after hearing the Marantz" sounds interesting, considering that their sound characters are SO different, even opposite. Regardless to overall quality difference you can easely miss...
Neutrally sounding CDP with a good resolution?
Guys, what about Sim Moon Nova?
HELP: how to compensate too laid-back source
It's interesting what CD players have NAD's neutrality but significantly better resolution? I'm quite confused: complex classical music was almost unlistenable on NAD, but a acoustic music from MA recordings sounded pretty good and natural, better...
