Schroeder Reference Arm
Dan_ed that was well said. I spend over 5 years with the Schroeder and the last 6 weeks with the Talea during this time there have been no other changes in my system. I must say that I am not speculating with my observations as I have spent consid...
Schroeder Reference Arm
I have had the Schroeder Reference the last 5-6 years using it with my ZXY Universe. It is an excellent arm and I am not surprised by the results that you heard with the HRX table. I have though recently switched to the new Talea arm (number 008)....
any audiophile guitarists out there?
I have an Emery Sound Microbaby guitar amp which is great to play around the house or could be used for recording. It is single ended and puts out 1-2 watts depending on the tube combination that you use. It is designed to use various output tubes...
cartridge to use with linn & shindo
I use a zyx universe with my Vosne romance and it works very well with the internal stepup. I would also think the ortofon a90 would be a great match.
External firewire hard drive to go with Mac Mini.
I went with the WD green drives (5400rpm) but bought individual enterprise level drives. I feel that these are better than the consumer level drive. They are very quiet. I put them in an Icy Dock enclosure with a variable speed fan,.
Shindo amps vs. preamps
I feel if one wants to get the Shindo sound that the preamp is definitely the place to start. I started with the Masseto which IMHO had bettered any preamp that I had owned previously. I liked it so much that I upgraded to the Vosne Romanee. I hav...
amarra or pure music..?
A few days ago they put a 1.4 version on their website. If you have paid for the program the downloads for the upgrades are at no additional cost. There have been many improvements since the 1.02 version.
amarra or pure music..?
I have been using Pure Music for the last month and agree that there are a few glitches. The latest version 1.3 seems to be working better for me. I still have some delays and for some reason at times I will highlight a song to play and it skips d...
Best Hard Drive and Enclosure for Music Server
My WD green drives are very quiet. They are enterprise level so that may make a difference. They are also 5400rpm. I think that most 5400 rpm drives will have less noise than those running faster. For music the 5400rpm seems to work just fine for ...
Review: Durand Tonearms Talea Tonearm
Great review. I heard the prototype at RMAF and again at Thom's in January and was very impressed. I have mine on order and I am anxiously awaiting its arrival.
High Efficiency Speakers Your top 3 or more
I really like my Serious Stereo Altec 604-H based speakers. I have heard the Sunny Cable horn speakers and they are very good. Would love to hear the Shindo Latour's.
Speakers with Lamm ML2.1
I recently sold my ML2's to a guy that had a pair of Sunny Cable's horns. It is a killer combination. I had them paired up with a pair of Reimer Teton's with great effect. For best results I would look at speakers around 95db up with an easy load ...
Shindo advice
My first Shindo preamp was the Masseto and it sounded better to me than any of my previous preamps (Lamm L2 and LL2, Wytech Opal, Hovland HP100). All of which are very good preamps. I did trade up to the Vosne-Romanee and was suprised how much bet...
Older Altec horn speakers
I am using an Altec 604 based speaker from Serious Stereo. This is by far a better speaker than the others I have used of which several are highly acclaimed. I feel that some of this older technology can be as good as the best of what is made toda...
So many preamps, so little time
Many good suggestions but you may want to check one of the Shindo preamps such as the Auriges line stage. The Shindo preamps are extremely musical.
