Primare I30 vs Krell KAV 400xi I would definitely at least try Sonus Faber with Krell. If what they asy about Krell extreme highs is true it will at least give Sonus Faber some treble, which that speaker notoriously lacks.
Integrated amplifier below 1.5K for Sonus Faber? I really think that pairing Sonus Faber Concertino with tubes will produce very unimpressive sound. Treble will be non-existing, imaging will suffer greatly, imho.I used to own Concertinos and Concertinos Home speakers. I have to say that if you li...
Integrated Amp Bargains with good balanced sound? I tried CA 840 V2, the latest iteration of their top of the line amp. It was not only not impressive it was downgrade in comparison to Music Hall 25.2 which sells for approx 5 times less than Cambridge. With Cambridge Audio consumer receives a funk...
A contrarian's view of inductance in SCs What I am curious is how important is weather speaker wire is highly-stranded or not?
Integrated Amp Bargains with good balanced sound? Here is an update:I got Music Hall 25.2 Amp and small Yamaha bookshelf speakers (for now while I am looking for real speakers)).I swapped speakers for fun and was faced with a very rude awakening. My S. F. Concertino Home speakers are peace of hor...
Phono Pre Selection Advise Rotel phono stage is arguably the best in under $200 range.Retails new for $199-$179 has MM/MC switch.
NAD vs Cambridge audio vs Music hall Side note: Before buying Music Hall I took home and auditioned Cambridge Audio 840A V2 ($1700.00 retail).I found CA sound to be veiled with no realism or stage. Sounded like a good FM station on my radio. Also I was turned of by a number of useless...
TT mat suggestions... Funk Firm Achromat is as useless as all the rest of them. I send it back for store credit. It makes everything sound bassy with reduced top end. (Rega P3)
Speakers for Music Hall 25.2 cdp and amp???? Buy an easy to drive speakers as Music Hall might not have enough power to drive hard floor standing speakers. After all MH has only 50Watt into 8 Ohms.I own MH 25.2 and would suggest going with Monitors instead of floorstanding speakers.
Recommend me a bright musical Bookshelf speaker. Thank you for great info and suggestions.
DIY Record Cleaning Solution Only hard particles can harm stylus or record. The rest of the contaminants only compromise the sound reproduction nothing more.(Well , boogie-man can harm your records ,but there is no repellent for him.)I do better job of cleaning dirty LPs by h...
NAD vs Cambridge audio vs Music hall I own Music Hall a25.2.It is bright sounding (at least in my system with Rotel phono stage) but very realistic. It takes time to get used to it's sound (it took for me anyway) due to the fact that I was coming from Yamaha separates that sounded mu...
TT mat suggestions... I tried number of mats and home made materials and nothing really works better than other. All those descriptions of blacker blacks and cleaner transients make me smile. Power of self-delusion is unlimited in humans.Nothing sounds better than 10 d...
Rega upgrades/tweeks Adding the Funk Achromat to my Rega P3 was the most useless thing I ever did to the deck, as it made everything sound bassy and slashed the highs, muted midrange. My ugly felt mat is better sounding than Achromat.
Turntable mats I made the best mat myself. It is not "UNIVERSAL" mat, as there is not such thing since every record sounds different and mastered differently.I made a mat to tame some of the Hard Rock records that have distorted highs.I took cork shelf liner wit... |
