Active Speaker Choice The G3 is basically the same as the 8030. I have the 8351B which are in the family of The Ones, any with 83x1 at the end. I also use two subwoofers. The main difference other than price ,the 83x1 series are 3 way and have the ability to use Genele...
The Placebo Effect So: Yes, some reported improvements from cables, fuses, vibration dampeners and such are likely placebo effectsWhich can be verified. And yes, some reported improvements are likely truly heard and experienced as real, permanent change by the listen...
The Placebo Effect Tell the scientists the brain measurements mean nothing, not me, I didn't conduct the experiments. The main point was the ability to image the brain in order to understand the regions associated with the phenomenon. Without the instruments, measu...
Solid state amplifiers and sound stage, especially front to back "depth" Regarding an amp or any other electronic gear upstream’s relative ability to do imaging, it’s generally about achieving low distortion and detail retrieval. That is needed to best deliver the spatial cues that enable imaging captured in a recordi...
The Placebo Effect Most of it was a rant. The rest wasn't really all that new but more information on the cocktail party problem. I did find the article interesting mainly because the way they moved a step closer was a focus on brain MEASUREMENTS from fMRIs where s...
Solid state amplifiers and sound stage, especially front to back "depth" Have you ever tried any tests like this? I don't know about soundstage but it might be of some value.https://www.audiocheck.net/audiotests_ledr.php
The Placebo Effect Uh, that was a very nice rant but this isn't about measurements and observations are often deceiving.
Solid state amplifiers and sound stage, especially front to back "depth" I never really thought the type of amplifier would affect soundstage. Speaker position, reflections, the recording I would think has more to do with soundstage. The one thing that isn't controlled by those is SPL at listening position. See if inc...
The Placebo Effect If placebo effect exist in audio, then it works both ways. If you strongly believe that cables have no effect on sound then you won't hear the difference in double blind testing - negative placebo effect.Yes, of course I'd never say otherwise. I ...
The Placebo Effect We all know audio reproduction is outside known physics and human audibility limits. To think silly things like placebo effect or confirmation bias could remotely apply to humans in their den of audio tweaks is outlandish not to mention those craz...
The Placebo Effect I would agree that placebo effect is an actual physical reaction. The problem I have is when it's denied placebo effect happens in audio perception.
The Placebo Effect Don't expect nothing but jumping through hoops trying to deny the obvious on this forum J. Chip.
Why do we want to distortions? More of the even/odd distortion, one good one bad. Even order distortion changes the timbre of brass instruments so I don't want that either. Give me a nice neutral amp with THD well below anything the weakest link, the speakers, will let me hear.
Why do we want to distortions? LSD?
Why is science just a starting point and not an end point? I'm sure they all listen to their products where did I say otherwise? I know John Siau at Benchmark does. https://benchmarkmedia.com/blogs/application_notes/listening-vs-measurements |
