Low-sensitivity speakers — What's special about them? Did you mean the JBL M2? (the JBL M1 comes to mind) are horns used.

Is bass the most important frequency band? Yes, you can measure bass. In order to get good bass a measurement microphone and something like REW helps a lot.
Is bass the most important frequency band? propose to you that bass and sub-bass should be optimized first and foremost, followed by treble and midrange in order to maximize enjoyment.Depends on type of music, listening position, music only or also HT duties. For me mid bass and midrange a...
Cables that measure the same but (seem?) to sound different The paper is misleading and a confused mess. For instance it was commented upon already, the post before mine, of the superiority of straight wire over monster. The paper does no such thing it uses 2 different cables through 2 different pathways w...

Cables that measure the same but (seem?) to sound different Actually all sdl4 posted was spurious data from someone trying to do research outside their area of expertise. This researcher has been debunked before and had a paper withdrawn when venturing into audiophile mythology. The only thing shown in th...
Dedicated 20a lines, 125 feet distance, which gauge wire to run? I assume the power conditioner at the subpanel would work on all 4 lines. Dedicated 20a lines, 125 feet distance, which gauge wire to run? It doesn't matter what anyone doubts what matters is passing inspection. Call an electrician.
Dedicated 20a lines, 125 feet distance, which gauge wire to run? Since you’re out of your depth I hope you get a licensed electrician. You will need direct burial or UF wire underground. If you put in a 60 amp sub panel use 4 awg from main to sub then at least 12 awg to the outlets. 6awg is only rated for 55 am...
Cables that measure the same but (seem?) to sound different Where people get lost in the woods is easily seen in this thread. As I mentioned before measurements of equipment can't explain the human perception of music. Think of it as a two systems, when sound hits the ear our system of perception from ear...
Recommendations and thoughts for end game speakers and amps You could spend about half as much and try Kii3 with BXT or Geithain if you can find them.
What is a cost effective way to level match, for comparing different hifi components? Use a voltmeter you can't level match with a SPL meter. You also need to do the test blind other than that just pick whichever one you think sounds better and don't worry about. |
