Physics Question: Why does cabinet volume matter so much to bass response?
Yes, manipulate wasn't a good way of putting it. I've heard very good bass, at least in my subjective opinion, from active monitors. My room isn't huge either which helps.

Newer designs like the Devialet Phantoms manipulate Hoffman’s Iron Law using DSP and crazy amounts of power to get bass in small enclosures.
How Electricity Actually Works
Lucky for those in this hobby we've managed to blindly stumble upon enough to record and reproduce that recording to an amazing accuracy. Good thing it didn't require us to dissect the Universe.
I don't want to beat a dead horse but I'm bugged.
Again, I can't speak to all o, buy my understanding of their position is that as imperfect as present measurement protocol is, if that is even an admitted liability, it is still superior to the most skilled listener in ascertaining component and ...

We as a species don't know a tenth of a percent about anything? Pretty pessimistic view of Homosapiens.

Who dismissed science of how we hear? The plascidity of the brain? Certainly not me. For instance do speakers " break in" or does our brain adapt to the sound of the speaker room interaction. Looking at the components of a passive speaker there’s ...

To me ASR does pretty good with DAC measurements and Speakers, especially since he got the Klippel.

the likes of czarivey, djones51, etal- Electrons flow? I never said electrons flow, though they do drift. This thread is a discussion about the weirdness or non intuitivness of electricity not the audibility of fuses and wires in sound systems...
How Electricity Actually Works
Energy does flow in the conductor, if it didn't the wire wouldn't get hot. Current doesn't leave and return, charge flows, current is the measurement (time) of the flow ( Quantity of charge) through a cross section of the conductor.

It's easy to "fool" oneself on a blind or short-term listening session. That is why the gold standard is long term evaluation. It's very hard to convince yourself somethings sounds good after you have experienced all it's flaws ABX and blind te...
How Electricity Actually Works
This does have implications for our audio cabling... I haven't seen anyone explain how...does it have any implication for wireless speakers?
How Electricity Actually Works
Strange how my speakers measure and sound extremely well. No hiss or hum my ear within an inch of the tweeter or mid yet my power cable and balanced cable run parallel, even strapped together with velcro for a distance. The way some think here not...

Then I read that he didn't even bother listening to the darn thing. Why would he bother with listening to this amplifier?   If something measures so poorly, wouldn't you want to correlate the measurements with what you hear? Not particular...
Why should audiophile deniers be allowed on an audiophile forum?
I am aware there are billions of people who don't give a damn about the American Empire. I never said the species would die out but Empires don't die quietly. They might not give a damn but they will be affected.
Why should audiophile deniers be allowed on an audiophile forum?
I dont speak for you djones but for all of us... I have no idea what you're talking about 99% of the time and I doubt very few here do either. If the American Empire falls the world falls with it.  We'll see what replaces it unless we can manag...
