Turnable database with TimeLine
Halcro, I agree the test record has an eccentric hole, as do most music records, so the variation in speed from the effects of warps or eccentricity is there on all records to some degree, do you think this makes a mockery of perfect rotational sp...
Simaudio MOON LP5.3 RS or 300LP?
I, like you, looked at the pics and decided that they had exactly the same circuit, the odd component was different, but that just might be new stock. So bought the 5.3 and psx second hand ( for the price of the 310 alone). It is hard to believe t...
What's next after Clearaudio Concept ?
I suggest Lyra Delos and Sim Audio lp310, and keep the TT. This should, with suitable discount, come in very close to your budget. Better still the lp 5.3 comes up second hand fairly frequently, and is the "exact" same circuit as the 310. I really...
Interesting analog experience
People visiting are generally polite, and complement the host on the sound even if they are not overly impressed, or try and find something good to say about it. I wouldn't read too much into this! All it tells me is you have very well mannered fr...
Turnable database with TimeLine
Slightly, or a lot off topic! Just wondering, as very few have the timeline but most have a smart phone and a test tone record, if the Feickert app might be more readily accessible. See this Data Base.http://www.stereo.net.au/forums/index.php?/top...
Stylus force digital scales
Dougdeacon, thanks that is something I have not thought about. I have confirmed on my el cheapo digital force gauge that it does measure the correct weight despite the attractive force by zeroing with the cartridge on the platform, and then liftin...
Turn table speed variation question
Will, I think there is considerable wow on many recordings, and as you suggest, mostly, I think it is from the original tape, but I often wonder how much is due to my turntable and how much is the recording? To sort it out I check the CD of the sa...
Audia flight protection mode
Thanks Czarivey, I have cut my losses and sent it back for repair. I don't think anyone would take it back after an attempted repair. I will be interested to find out what the problem was.
Audia flight protection mode
Thanks for the responses. It's just the dealer is on the other side of the country, I was hoping there was a quick fix, without the need to ship back and forth.
Stylus force digital scales
John_tracy is absolutely correct, once the weight of the cartridge is supported by the measuring platform the magnetic force is neutralised, as he says "think about it". For me the most crucial issue is that the height of the measuring platform is...
Does anyone use a RUMBLE filter?
I suspect the RIAA filter is good?? With a rumble filter, I suspect, there is no phase shift because you are cutting out subsonic frequencies, not crossing over to them on a different driver.
Does anyone use a RUMBLE filter?
I have noticed this as well, my phono stage (SimAudio lp5.3 and psx), has 2 selectable equalisation filters, RIAA and IEC. They are essentially the same, but the IEC filter roles off everything below 20Hz. I use this and have no woofer cone "pumpi...
Lyra Kleos: tracking force/VTA/azimuth questions
bankupu I have a Kleos and would like some help with the azimuth. I too use a fozgometer and my Kleos is registering 22db seperation in both channels. That is the highest it will go. I am fairly sure that the azimuth is near spot on, as I can see...
VTF, VTA, SRA, and 92 degrees - question
Dinster, you could try putting a 2mm shim on the back of the cartridge between the headshell and cart. This will angle the back of the cart down and get you much closer to 92 degrees. I have a little brass shim for this purpose and it works well. ...
VTF, VTA, SRA, and 92 degrees - question
The difficulty with VTA is that it is the angle between the record, and a line joining the tip of the stylus with the fulcrum...wherever that is. It is not the same as the "cantilever angle"! It is usually about 2 degrees more than the cantilever ...
