I have the original Sonatinas and use a Pass Labs Aleph 3 and have not felt the need to upgrade in over 3 years, unbelieveable for me.

I have the same Aleph pair and use the Silverline Sonatinas, original, Avalon Style. Great combo.

First, upgrade the power cord that came with the unit. This cord is usually a crummy $2.00 item, sometimes 16 or even 18 gauge. Then move on to the source interconnect, power amp interconect, then speaker cable.
