Do not buy any Sonus Faber used
That comments from Elizabeth re Parasound are nonsense.I have spoken with Tony at Parasound tech support on numerous ocasions and have gotten any part I needed. I buy most if not all my Parasound stuff (inc JC-1s and JC-2s) used and have never bee...
SACD playback thru Bryston BDA-1
Ncarv, Kr4:Since Sony is one of the major enforcers of SACD copyright, I doubt if any Sony player outputs true SCAD digital output via PCM. It may be a "compressed" version which, even though is in a format other than 16/44.1, is still a compresse...
Pink Floyd Dark Side comparison?
Ben:"I find it strange the new version isn't better but I suppose these things are subjective but considering a lot of original CD's were badly mastered I find it a surprising result."That was exactly my presumed opinion before getting the Guthrie...
Pink Floyd Dark Side comparison?
Brad:Its just my impression, playing both versions back to back on my system (B&W 804s, HSU sub, Parasound JC1 (2) power and JC2 preamp, CA 840c feeding digital to Bryston BDA-1 feeding the JC2).I did not mess with the levels, as the level of ...
SACD playback thru Bryston BDA-1
For those whose players convert to PCM, what format? 16bit/44.1KHz? In that case there is hardly any advantage to purchsing SACD discs if you are getting only CD resolution on the digital outputs. Also, I think the SACD players are only allowed to ...
What is your favorite tv theme song/composition?

Pink Floyd Dark Side comparison?
SgrWRT Darkside, the 80's version is better IMO. More detailed, better dynamic range. I forgot to mention that the re-master has a more enhanced bottom end compared to the 80's version. For example, the heartbeat at the beginning is more pronounce...
Need help with cd or dvd burning
The other thing I forgot to mention. A home burned CD will probably not have as low an error count as a commercial CD. This is due to the fundamental difference in how these are produced. So if you can find a commercial version that sounds accepta...
Pink Floyd Dark Side comparison?
Well, I had a chance to compare the new Guthrie remaster with my original 80's issue, and was somewhat dissapointed to find out the 80's issue still sounds better. Detail, sounstage, and air is better on the original. You can more clearly hear the...
Need help with cd or dvd burning
Hifihvn:I have another post on using BLER. But I found that the BLER test needs be run as slow as the CDROM will read. I have used 4X and 10X, both giving close to identical results (because the 10X actually runs 4-6X for most of the scan). When I...
Bryston BDP1- loading problem
Are you not exceeding the file format limitations for FAT32 with those drives? I thought drives of that size require NTFS file systems? Win XP, for example, cannot format a volume greater than 32 GB in FAT32.
What Mobile Fidelity lp or cd is your fav ?
Blood, Sweat and Tears (S/T) and Steely Dan Gaucho, on CD
MFSL moody blues: are they all so good?
I think the Japanese SHM versions may be just as good. And you can get new versions for what used MFSL versions cost. Forget about "new" MFSL versions that are out of print.
Procul H's
I think a CD for $11 is a pretty good deal if it sounds good. MFSL and Japanese SHM mini LP stuff (and XRCD) costs three to four times that. And that is for used MFSL CDs if out of print. New ones can be insane.
