Low Frequency Rumble from TT between songs It's definitely a low frequency sound wave, not a rumble, not surface or groove noise. I'm going to try a suspended turntable just to see if that would be a potential solution. I
Low Frequency Rumble from TT between songs No. Some are less than others but they all have it.
Low Frequency Rumble from TT between songs I'm using Edensound TerraCones on my Aries. The Townshend is about $1k for my table. Pretty steep.
Low Frequency Rumble from TT between songs Do you hear the rumble just turning on the VPI player (on high volume), or only when the stylus is in the record groove? No. Only when the needle is on the surface of the LP.
Low Frequency Rumble from TT between songs If I place the turntable on it, will it decrease the feedback?
Low Frequency Rumble from TT between songs It's definitely different on every record but still there on everything. I tried moving the speakers away from the table and that for sure lessens the sound. It's clearly an interaction between the two components. The bad part is we live in a sm...
Low Frequency Rumble from TT between songs Yeah, it wouldn't be rumble. Acoustic feedback. But the table's been in the system for a couple years but the speakers have been here for 3 months and the noise only started a few weeks ago. Driving me nuts trying to figure it out.
How does the VPI Aries II stand up to current mid priced tables? Late to this but I'm not really a VPI fan EXCEPT the Aries! I have an Aries 1 with a TNT platter that I upgraded with the SOTA Eclipse motor and controller which is a noticeable sound upgrade from any of the VPI controllers. SOTA retrofit the moto...
How far is your SUT from your Phono Pre/Preamp? It's pretty well documented that owners have had much better luck with outboard SUTs than the internal Jensens with the Lamm. Lamm has no provision for loading changes and maybe that's the cause. In my case, the SUT is designed for my DL103 varian...
How far is your SUT from your Phono Pre/Preamp? Interestingly the SUT in the Lamm is a real weak point. The external, even a relatively inexpensive one like the AnaMighty one I have, is a huge improvement over the Jensen’s inside. I just A-B’d it again this morning and it sound great with the i...
How far is your SUT from your Phono Pre/Preamp? I've spent the morning doing a bunch of things, reorienting, finding weird angles, and changing cables to shielded cables. Cables make no difference at all. There's definitely one spot that I found to place the SUT that is the quietest and it's ab...
How far is your SUT from your Phono Pre/Preamp? Got it. I'll try other cables today to see if that's what's causing the hum.
How far is your SUT from your Phono Pre/Preamp? Yeah, it does sound pretty dang silly. Can I report my own post for being a complete waste of everyone’s time?
Shielded cable between pre and SET amp Problem not solved! The external SUT sounds so much better than the internal one that I'm just going to have to get some longer cables.
Shielded cable between pre and SET amp Ok, update. The problem was the SUT that was sitting 2 feet from the preamp. Figured that was enough. Moved it 4 feet away, still noisy. Using the built in SUT now. Frankly it's hard to tell a difference. Problem solved! |
