Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Revisiting the DLS1 psyched me up enough to order an Audio Technica ART7. This has a non-permeable MC core and low output similar to the DLS1 and FR7. The ART7 spec looks very close to last year's AT50ANV, except for lighter weight and a "newly de...

Any experience or thoughts on the performance level of Fidelity Research MC-201? There is a stock of NOS examples available:http://www.ebay.com/itm/FIDELITY-RESEARCH-MC-201-Stereo-Phono-Cartridge-Vintage-New-In-Box-/271246008816?pt=US_DJ_Turntable...

Help with Theta Ds Pro Gen V
Theta stopped supporting all legacy products after the company was sold several years ago. I am the original owner of a Gen Va DAC that fortunately still works.

I suggest this thread be retitled "10907 reasons to be a cheap ass."

Dear Raul, I've delayed mounting my Virtuoso Dti due to back order of TX2575 resistors to change loading from the 100K currently in my MM phono stage. Based on your experience with Alchemist, do you think it's worth giving 100K a try?
Today's New York Times
I liked the kid in the article who said that once he heard a good stereo he couldn't stand to listen to his ipod any more. A true convert! The first hi-end manufacturer to get gear into Starbucks might just break the log jam.

Lew, are you familiar with the Kenwood TS-10 Ceramic turntable sheet for the L07D? Was this considered an upgrade over SS?Sorry, no CAF for me this year. RMAF is next.

If the spindle is long enough I'd be more inclined to experiment with mats like TT Weights 4mm copper, Trans-Fi ResoMat, or a combination of both. These would be portable across turntables should you decide to move to a better table. With the copp...
Best Rock Album in 2013
Synthfreek, okay, perhaps I should have said "nothing that the Foolish Foxes haven't already done better." So far I've only heard Muchacho and Here's To Taking It Easy. I think Houck picked up the FF's sound somewhere along the road after his fair...

Jane's Addiction Live in NYC/July 5, 2011 at Terminal 5. JA does it live like no band I've seen since The Who in '70. Excellent SQ on double vinyl.
Best Rock Album in 2013
Todd, I picked up Regions of Light on vinyl today and am enjoying it. Jim James has matured through some strong recent projects, esp. with Jay Farrar on Multitudes and the George Harrison tribute. Monsters of Folk has its ups and downs, as has MMJ.

If not STELLAR, Muchacho is very good-- but all that affected whooping and hollering in too many spots causes hiccups. Nice cover photo, looks like he's having good fun with those two girls in bed. Not much here that Fleet Foxes, Daniel Lanois,and...

Dear Raul, I guess it's time for me to revisit the Sumiko Virtuoso DTi that has been in storage since my fork in the road into MM/MI. I believe at $1200 this was Sumiko's TOTL HOMC, though uncertain where it fits in sequence with the Alchemist III...
Lyra Delos and Soundsmith
My experience is that SS offers the premium options of an L3 upgrade(ruby cantilever with optimized contour line(OCL) diamond), or an OCL diamond glue-bonded to the stock Lyra boron cantilever. Based on SS recommendation I chose the boron option f...
