Who has gone fully active? What speakers and preamp did you end up with? I love active speakers. Direct amplification and external, line-level analog crossover fits right in with existing systems (and concepts and beliefs). Digital crossover and DSP is incredible but... complicated.
Anyone wear gloves to handle vacuum tubes? If you wear gloves your fingerprints can't be found and you have plausible deniability.
Did I just cook my preamp? Look folks, it's simple. Watch me say it in five easy steps. 1. Disconnect all components, from the wall and from each other. 2. Test each component for internal shorts using the continuity feature of your DMM. This is completely safe, and you ...
Did I just cook my preamp? This thread has become surreal.
Did I just cook my preamp? isnt that it? 69Vac on LoZ is a major issue, right? It's most likely a major issue with your meter. A good meter should accurately measure a hard voltage in either standard or LoZ modes.
Have JBL K2s...best Amp pairing please? How are the K2 and Salon 2 positioned relative to one another? They're from the same company and retail for almost the same amount. I'm curious. Thanks!
Speakers sound too bright. Hi folks, I'm a little confused here. OP states his speakers are Martin Logan 60xti. According to Google, these were inexpensive home theater speakers, now discontinued. They were not panels, but standard 3-way boxes with cone drivers, made in C...
Did I just cook my preamp? @obarrett Odds are that your phono stage's outboard power supply has a short to ground. Linear power supplies run hot and are generally the first component to fail.
Repair for speaker cabinet You can touch it up with high-gloss black paint and a tiny brush (don't use a marker, wrong sheen). It will be better, but not perfect, and very inexpensive. Otherwise, hire someone to rebuild the damaged corner with epoxy, not wood putty (JB Wel...
Speakers sound too bright. Doesn't @larry5729 kinda have a point though?
New Klipsch Klipschorn AK7 & La Scala AL6 will be active DSP Crossover what’s most important is the quality of the DSP unit itself, not whether it adds an additional A/D conversion step at the input side. @phusis I (largely) agree with you on this subject. I’ve auditioned high-end active setups and found that th...
Mike's Barn. Apparently the owner of the system in the video is / was managing a car dealership for a living. I know that has nothing to do with anything, but I can't help finding it interesting anyway.
Question for Atma-sphere, will expensive power cables improve your amplifiers? @kevn I respect - and share, mind you - your desire to learn more about cables, and more specifically which of their properties benefit sound quality and which do not. I also think you're asking a person you should not be asking. The subject is...
Question for Atma-sphere, will expensive power cables improve your amplifiers? @kevn it's starting to look as of this dumpster fire of a thread - starting with the original post - is aimed at putting @atmasphere on the spot - about cables, no less, a topic only a newborn or an imbecile would regard as safe and noncontroversi...
Disagreements and Conflicts between Audiophiles have we lost our brotherhood and maturity? I've noticed a couple of things. The more technical or narrow-focused a forum or thread is, the more likely the conversation is to be friendly and informative always. There are long-running threads on here that are oases of courteousness and inc... |
