Picking speakers 3000-5000 budget
Tektons do seem appropriate actually I can't believe I'm even writing this
Aleph 3 safe to operate?
Isn’t it funny how a simple question can generate a number of diverse yet incorrect answers? Bring those Alephs up gently on a variac. Usually I start at 50V for five or six hours, then up in 20V steps at 1 or 2 hours per. This will reform the ca...
I bought 4 subwoofers and I'm absolutely not doing a DBA! Hah!
@erik_squires  Reason I mentioned partitioning the enclosure is, Arnie Nudell did this way back when while tweaking the crossovers to feed each woofer a slightly different signal. I won’t pretend to understand the fine points, but I can attest t...
Speakers sound too bright.
The bright side of a limited budget and not considering the used market is that one won't feel overwhelmed by the number of great-sounding speakers that turn up.

@erik_squires  Are your cabinets partitioned horizontally so that each driver has its own sealed enclosure? It’s hard to tell from the drawing you posted. Also, what is the rationale for the recessed amp housing compartment and wouldn’t it be pr...

Picking a power amp
The Adcom power amp sounds ok,but it seems to get thinner as the volume go’s up. The bass seems weird,I don’t know if it’s the amp or speakers. Some songs I know have a lot of bass seems to be lacking in bass. @twangy57  It’s the amp. the la...

@jayctoy  Not doubting you heard something in that room, but maybe they were just running those little speakers through BACCH.

@mitch2  In fairness, hyperlinks in Audiogon forums are completely invisible on some devices / browsers. So unless the hyperlink text is actually like "go there" or "click here" readers m are very likely to miss it. Audiogon’s forum software is ...

I am using a 14 gauge cord that’s good for up to 15 amps. I found the max power I’m calling for is around 10 watts. @kevemaher you nailed it in your first post. 14AWG is a safe and electrically adequate gauge for your amp power cord. Of cour...

My neighbor has several shakti stones under the hood of his Ford truck.  He says his engine runs great on a 75% water / fuel ratio, but he keeps it under 40% in order not to catch government’s attention. He says "you shouldn’t be greedy", and he ...
Krell Moves to new location
That website smells like death. So that's it then, the end of the road for Krell?

@kevemaher  The fuse info should be in your owner’s manual. Look at the power rating on the back of your unit. If it says, say, 600W, that’s the maximum power the amp will require on a sustained basis (it may require much more on transients, but...

@kevemaher  We all have our preferences and I respect that. Personally I would have no qualms about using one of those Amazon power cords, especially to feed an SMPS-equipped Class D amp that presents a relatively light electric load. Is the amp...
