What Would you Trade your System FOR?
Sean, as always, you are a very, very thorough person. The only thing, to my mind which you've forgotten, is to stay young and healthy for "ever" in order to enjoy it all....Regards,
What Would you Trade your System FOR?
A time machine to take me back to the glory days of the CSO, Fritz Reiner, Jasha Heifetz, Rubinstein et al.....and sufficient small change to enjoy it all. By and by, the ladies would come by themselves........(sigh)
What's the Least You Could Live With?
Mvwine, I think you're right. The idea of never having a good glas of wine anymore is simply just too horrible for words. So it will probably only be one concert a month and a good glass of Champagne in the intermission and one or two glasses of a...
John Dunlavy On "Cable Nonsense"
Pbb, in my opinion, you are missing a slight point, which I find surprising, since you seem to play the guitar:Many audiophiles are avid concertgoers and if a piece of wire brings them closer to the experience of the real thing, who would bother t...
Unreadable CDs: unscientific testing
Sean, when I first started reading, I thought, why this long rigmarole on a minor problem, but I am glad I read to the end and hence apologies for my "evil thoughts". I bought a set of the Auric stuff, which was offered here at Audiogon the other ...
Does anyone know anything about 'The Tube God'?
Well Des, Harvey aka Gizmo was the selfannointed TUBE GOD and his setup was New York Audio Lab (NYAL), as I recall.
Does anyone know anything about 'The Tube God'?
From the little that I know, I would expect the classical tube sound of the eighties and before: Luscious and euphonic mids, highs not particularly pronounced ( nice with some earlier CD's ) and not much in the way of a tight and controlled bottom...
110V/50Hz equipment in a 220V/60Hz country.
SFstereo is dead on. You need not worry.
Great Record Stores in Basel or Zurich, Switzerland???
phild, hello, for CDs try the JECKLIN store at Heimplatz on Rämistrasse, but I must warn you, prices are attrocious, quite a bit more expensive than in in the States. Finding good vinyl is difficult. I suggest you try ANTIQUARIAT JETZER, at Seefe...
110V/50Hz equipment in a 220V/60Hz country.
What has been said above is largely close to the experiences I have made. I live in Europe and I am using Spectral equipment of 120VAC provenience. I feed the preamp, as well as other audio gear through a PS Audio 600, which is set to input 230VAC...
Together everyone was stronger than any one person alone
I have no doubt in my mind, that this letter is based on fact. Thanks Dan, for sharing it with us. As an European, I would say its "typically American" in its mixture of wry humour, directness, single- mindedness of purpose and matter of fact prag...

Hi, Jtinn, sorry to come back to you so late..... Richard did give two aproximate dates, however couldn't deliver. I'd been forewarned, so I didn't mind and these days, since Sept. 11th, well, there are more important, vital things to occupy my mi...
Best source for 220V used power cords?

Best source for 220V used power cords?
Hi, I've used quite a number of different brands of US-made powercords here in Switzerland, where we have 230VAC with overall very good and no detrimental effect. Those powercords, which dealers here import from the US, fitted with EU plugs, are to...
Thinking of rcprince who works in Manhattan
I have no words Russ, but gladness, that my pain and anguish, also nourished of similar conflagrations in the 1940s, which I was lucky to have survived as a child, would not be sharpened by a more personal loss. What else can I say but to repeat, ...
