I am Looking for That Elusive 3 Dimensional Room Filling Soundstage
That size room, and that budget?Pretty easy call for me.  Ohm Walsh.  Possibly used/upgraded, or maybe new.But big 3d soundstage, modest budget and space.  That would be my first call.
Need Salk/Legacy speaker help/opinions
I've heard most of the Salk line-up pretty extensively, I've also demo'd the Focus SE several times.I think the Focus SE is the best speaker in the Legacy line-up.  A straight ahead high displacement, well voiced and built speaker.  It can thump, ...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
As for playing loud. They can do that, and do it in spades. They simply do not lose composure. They can be a little dangerous as they don’t get real bright when pushing them like that, so you don’t realize how loud they are.A story however... A cou...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Steve's review is very fair and accurate.  They are a really fun speaker.I have the 5000's.  I do wonder sometimes what an even "Better" tweeter would sound like. (could be upgraditis).  I also find they do sound even more focused and detailed whe...
What are some of the most underrated and overrated loudspeakers you’ve auditioned?
@audiotroy And just because a speaker is 20-30k... doesn't mean its good.I'll take the top end Salk's (9.5, SS10, SS12) all day long over the Wilson Yvette, any Paradigm Persona and a few others all day long.To me, the Wilson Yvette is merely "ok"...
Salk Audio Sound
No question.Different flavors to choose from depending on what you are looking for.  You may have to wait a little bit, but the work and value is outstanding.
What are some of the most underrated and overrated loudspeakers you’ve auditioned?
UnderratedOhm Walsh, Salk Soundscape 10 and 12 (out of production), JBL M2 (uses DSP and pro amps, but damn), legacy Focus SE, Spatial M3S TurboOverratedParadigm Persona's, B+W Diamond Series, McIntosh Speakers (though not sure anyone rates them h...
JBL S3900 and S4700....possibly audiophile or not?
They are not as efficient as you might think in a horn.  Say, like a lot of Klipsch.  A lot of the JBL's seem to dig a good current speaker.  In fact, I tried a McIntosh amp with them, and preferred an older Harman Kardon that delivered a crap ton...
The best looking speakers
Finish wise... Paging Jim Salk.  Jim's speakers are just outstanding values to begin with, but his custom finishes are unreal.  The new SS9.5 has nice angles also.
JBL S3900 and S4700....possibly audiophile or not?
I owned the 3900's.  JBL's horns are not aggressive IMO.  They were a good speaker, punchy but did not dive particularly deep.  I did feel they sounded better when turned up past 80db's than at lower volumes.
WAF Speaker suggestions
Ohm walsh, or have Jim Salk build you something killer and have your wife help pick the finish.
Ownership and Review of a pair of Ohm Super Sound Cylinder
@osteopic I think most people like bass and tend to like it a little bumped up.  No shame in that, it's part of the fun, and the fletcher munson curve effect is well documented. If you have a bigger room, it's nice that the DSP is helping, but you ...
What amp is best with Wilson Sasha DAW speakers
Warm, musical yet detailed?Pass Labs and be done with it.not sure?  Call Reno hi-fi, and take advantage of their demo policy.250.8 would do the job nicely and at a reasonable price.
Looking for a good full range floor stander
Troy,Do you know much about Jim’s background?Jim, along with those he partners with to design and voice speakers is awfully distinguished with loads of experience. Not sure why you seem to have an issue with Salk and tekton, though I could guess.H...
DynAudio Contour 60 vs Paradigm Persona 7F
@smodtactical I owned the Contour 60’s for about a year. 12 x 17 room, 9 foot ceiling. Concrete floors with carpet and padding overneath. Dedicated listening room. GIK bass traps in all corners, treated etc. They are good, not great. I like them le...
