One key to building great systems over time.
Think I have researched the whole audio/music subject and have waited sometimes five years in some cases for the right piece of equipment to pop up used. Had Jim Smith over multiple times. I listen to the equipment to hear the music. Profound I kn...
Does an upgrade make sense?
Redo the room. If the ceiling is low (hope it's not), use GIK diffusor/absorption. 36' long by 25 wide. Study up on ideal wall construction. Stop fighting this if you will be in the home for a while. Bring in a EQUI-TECH balanced power wall unit a...
Best Full-Function Preamplifier
My unit is technically a Chardonnay, having wanted a 6SN7 unit. I did however request  upgrading all the essential parts to max it out. Added about 1K to the stock price. Had it built specifically match a pair of Audiopax M 100s and due to the low...
Best Full-Function Preamplifier
Essential, Accuphase, Atmashpere, all good choices, great choices actually.  I would advise you to look at the Supratek web site. I have what some would consider pretty close to a reference rig and use a Supratek preamp.
Ethernet connection for best sound quality
Reading this entire thread (almost) I've come to the conclusion that  I know less than anyone in the conversation and about that there is no doubt. All I want is to connect my HiFi Rose 150 to my audio system and since it also provides You Tube to...
Jay's "Ugly Truth" video
Never been able to truly enjoy overspending. It's like somethings telling me Im.oit of line. I appreciate seeing a carefully cobbled together system that punches above it's weight. Many of the virtual systems here reflect a well thought out proces...
ZYX "House" Sound
Thought I would pick this up as having recently purchased the ZYX Ultimate Exceed Omega and running it in, and believe  me if you doubt break in process is real this will make you a believer, I would say for me, in my system, the Omega is a goldil...
To condition or not ?
My understanding is that a basic regenerator will provide stability for the electricity supplying the motor. I have one dedicated to the tt.
Loudspeaker sensitivity and dynamics: are the two inexorably linked?
Having read the thread and at many points being out of my depth some questions remain that interest me. Small sample size here as to experience so bear with me. Recently changed speakers going from Zu Def 4s to my present speaker. The Zus being a ...

What is turntable “liveliness”.
Ossicle, noticed you referenced "steady enough". What I have experienced recently is a discernable improvement in "steady", and it is readily apparent when looking at the strobe used to check for speed. And the liveliness, while not being overly a...
I used to think pricey interconnects were snake oil...
No, not going to pay stupid money on cables. But there are some really good cables to be had, not cheap but a definite improvement. Cables matter.
Balanced/Differential tube preamplifier recommendation?
IMO stick with balanced. Have had both. Somehow balanced eliminates some types od electrical noise that isn't noticeable using single ended but moves out of the way with balanced. True balanced BAT equipment seemed more immediate to me.
Mazzy loves Little Feat!
Probably saw Little Feat 4-5 times. Had Bring the Family on the   turntable last night. Hard to beat Lipstick Sunset and Have a Little Faith back to back.
What record cleaner is the most bang for the buck??
Second "The Vinyl Press" article. A very thorough and illuminating article. Have always used Audio Intelligence products and done by hand with a US rinse. Don't trust spinning brushes.
