Am I right for this forum? Making music sound more real and involving should not be seen as a character defect. I can lead to an addictive chase without end, or at least ending with the ole empty pockets. My experience has often been an increasing respect for the artist's e...
Should Amps be plugged into a power conditioner? Ralph, would appreciate your opinion on my situation. My system's power is supplied by an EQUI=TECH 5Kva wall unit running six dedicated lines, two to the front end, four to the amps (Audiopax M100 monoblocks) and REL Subs. Am able to dedicate ea...
Handling Heavy Amps A good hand truck and aluminum ramps go a long way. I have double doors in the basement so getting things down there, not too bad. My experience is (some will differ here), weight in the equipment=weight in the music. Had piano movers for my speak...
Terry DeWick has passed Terry was a consummate tech but above all else quietly dedicated towards providing both quality and consideration to his clients. I'm sure many here have had great experiences in their dealings with him but would like to tell the forum about one. ...
Moving into an apartment with wood joist floors - worried about neighbors hearing We all make mistakes.
Anybody using the last record preservative I'm a fan. Have "Catch a Fire" by the Wailers with the old Zippo lighter cover. Treated 30 or so years ago. I've had the album 50 years. Sounds spectacular.
A persistent hummmm... Have a new Hi Fi Rose streamer, hooked up last night. Sounds pretty good but for the first time-hum. Can't handle hum so here I go as well.
Amp — Leave on or turn off I tend to lean towards leaving things on, and digital/transistor for sure.
Cable Break In for the Naysayers Sorry Jaygilb but there is no way my ears made good with what was coming out of my speaker cables when I first used them. There were times when the signal was so garbled was completely unlistenable. To each his own.
Good Speakers for Rock and Roll Under 15K For your electronics you will definitely need very efficient speakers. My system is much like yours, mainly tube. The 845s are limiting your choices but certainly provide a very musical, engaging signal. No one has mentioned ZU Definition IV but b...
Do You Buy Speakers Without Hearing Them? Last two bought without audition.More than pleased but took some upstream changes to get them to sing.
Why do we demand so much from our systems? That’s a pretty dark take, but OK. The pleasure of hearing a virtusuo ply his trade and turn an instrument into an absolutely sublime experience is more than just a consumer purchase. It just is. I sometimes listen to records, older somewhat obscu...
What happens when the stylus tip wears out on a $12,000 cartridge? When one purchases a 10K cartridge they are stepping out on the ledge. No way around it. If you're actually looking and this is more than conjecture the solution put forth by tunes409 sounds pretty good. Phasemation is a very solid brand IMO.
how to use LDA quartz regenerator??? help Bought a Monarchy regenerator. It would be a reach for me to believe it doesn't help. But then I'm a big believer in cleaning up the power.
Where to go next with the turntable I would get a tube phono stage. |
