Which Rack Is Better? Drubin: I mentioned to John @ Studio Tech that the upturned spike design feature (for all of the shelves) is what most of us are now looking for in equipment racks as it opens up the possibilities quite a bit. Perhaps if you reiterate this to him ...
Best Speaker for 300B It will depend on your room and listening tastes as Greg states. It will also depend on the amp and speakers themselves as the spec's/numbers are just a rough guideline. I have an Audion Silver Night 300B SET that does not seem to care if the spea...
Cardas Caps Worthwhile? I just use electrician's alcohol and cotton swabs if the pins are in good condition (also clean the globe with the alcohol). If the the pins are not in good shape I lightly use very fine emery cloth (think that's the name of it) and then follow up...
Which Rack Is Better? Drubin: John at Studio Tech said that they had the PA-06 in stock and I think he said that they will be making them again.
Sony 777es ok to leave on? I have tried it both ways and with all three of the players (plus one DAC) they all sound much better after being powered up for at least three days. The sound is a bit sluggish and veiled compared to when the equipment is left on all of the time....
Cardas Caps Worthwhile? Bmpnyc: Yes, I live in the LA area. We keep an open place (no air conditioning) and the air gunk covers everything (even dishes in closed cupboards). I never thought of putting anything on the unused inputs/outputs until I heard of the Caps. I can...
Sony 777es ok to leave on? Bmpnyc: Does it get hot? None of the players that I own (and have owned) generate much heat at all (it's hard to feel it at all).

Cardas Caps Worthwhile? I use small rounds of kitchen tin foil on the back of my Musical Fidelity amp (which fall off if you fuss around too much), for dust and air grunge protection. I wouldn't mind having the Cardas Caps instead, but am too cheap.
The most beautiful Integrated Tube amp? The Pathos Twin and also the SET amps that are in the shape of and "X" or "cross" (take your pick), but I cannot remember the name of the manufacturer (very unusual though).
Which Rack Is Better? I have an update on the equipment rack that I am now using. Audio Advisor finally responded (following my 3rd email which was rather threatening). They would not replace the faulty parts due to the sale being older than 30 days old (even though th...
Cd storage..what's an audiophile to do? Mezmo: I have been looking for a way to store CD's that will be burned from our old cassette collection (and isolate them from the rest of the CD's as well). I assume that these things look like books and can be placed on a bookshelf and will look...
Software to give woofers a work-out That was really base of you Glen.
Last horrah before baby comes? Go out with your spouse and have a nice dinner with the $200.
Cd storage..what's an audiophile to do? I use a Tansu cabinet in the living room. It has five drawers that are suitable for CD's (on end) and will hold approx. 250 CD's per drawer. I place a length of wood in the bottom/back of each drawer so that the CD's do not extend to the very back... |
