A'gon Transactions, Risk of Loss? Mmmmm could be.
Cars. What does the typical audiophile drive? Tim: Yes, it's a hydraulic suspension which will raise the wheels (per side) in the event of a flat. Other than that it has an inline four and could not be simpler (all the body parts bolt on/off -w- no welds).Once I refurbish the radiator we will...
Cars. What does the typical audiophile drive? 1972 Citroen ID-19. The only type of car that allows touching up one's eye liner while hitting speed bumps @ 50 mph.I may install a TT in the future, but will probably opt for a new radiator first.
Speaker placement tool?? Two sheets of slick/finished cardboard and a helper to steady the tops of the speakers (when they are dragged) should do it. Cardboard works with most any floor surface and I have moved objects in excess of 1000 lbs in this manner.
Help me tame the brightness of my Triangles Paul:If your CV4003's are the mid 80's version which has recently popped up on the market (mine were marked "KQDD"), then this may be your problem. Pick up a pair of 1960's GE/RCA/Sylvania 12au7's (all are a safe bet). Both the 12au7/CV4003 and 12a...
Is 5.1 Really This Bad? I have always found that a good book and a little imagination surpasses 5.1 on all scales.
Best way s to clean CD's? Any updates? Jim:Most any towel will scratch CD's. If anyone in the family wears glasses pick up a micro fiber cloth (used to clean anti-glare lenses) the next time you are @ the shop.I think that 3M may make this material as well, but don't know what the prod...
Christmas Music PS: I recently picked an R&B compilation by Rhino Records that sounds great (better than the same cuts on LP's). Don't know how they got the old recordings to sound so good, but could go for more of these if they were produced in the same mann...
Christmas Music Charlie: We play R&B/Disco for X-Mas. The only real exception is a version of the "Nutcracker Suite" performed on mandolins.Nothing like listening to "The Hustle" on X-Day (@ least in a Methodist/Jewish household:-).I listen to the real X-Mas ...
Your ONE all time favorite love song? Q: "Hey Dekay (and others), aren't sex songs a different thing than love songs?"A: Not to a sociopath.
Your ONE all time favorite love song? Wow, lot's of generations in the mix.#1 for me (when sober) is "Stand by Me".Otherwise it would be "You Sexy Thing/Thang" by Hot Chocolate, I think (not very good @ remembering song titles & bands). The lead in is: "I believe in miracles", in ...
Tube suggestions for the Aronov LS 9000 South: Are these perhaps 7025 tubes (not 7024)? If so, then they are a type of 12ax7 (ECC83) that may or may not be lower in noise than a typical 12ax7. Real 7025's have an added coil that would theoretically decrease noise, per my basic understan...
How do you properly break-in a pair of speakers? Various full scale music will work fine (classical with organ is good). I do not play new speakers loud @ first (if the sound becomes compressed or dry, then this is too loud, IMO, plus who wants to listen to this). Most of the new speakers that I ...
Does equipment get old? T-Bone: I figure that anything more than 8-10 years old is going to require some refurbishing to sound right (I'm talking tube gear).I used to have my old Dynaco, Eico and McIntosh gear recapped every 8 years, or so, and my tube guitar amps @ leas... |
