What is Moving From Solid State to Quicksilver Mid Monos Like?
@fastcat95 "...(.75" tweeter, and dual V.C. 6.5" bass mids). 89 dB sensitivity; impedance probably drops to 4-6 ohms" "...what do you think???"   My friend has a similar speaker configuration and spec, slightly more sensitive than yours, simil...
What is Moving From Solid State to Quicksilver Mid Monos Like?
Good to know @yogiboy and thanks for responding.  I'm thinking most of Mike's QS amps seem to respond and sound, dare I say, more musical with higher impedance speakers, 8ohm and above.
What is Moving From Solid State to Quicksilver Mid Monos Like?
@yogiboy which 83db speakers were you using with Mid-Monos?  Are they 4 or 8ohm? At my 55year-in-business local dealer who sells AudioNote and Quicksilver, I've also heard low power 10w amps playing 83db speakers there which are 8-ohm. Sure the a...
What is Moving From Solid State to Quicksilver Mid Monos Like?
@fastcat95 ..." Can anyone out there who has made a move from good SS equipment to the mid monos tell me what they gained that made them happier with the sound?"...   Some of what you might "gain" or even "miss" may also have a direct depende...
Help with Krell KSA 50-S versus Krell KSA 200-S
In a similar situation, on a secondary system setup - my Pass/Forte' amp was configured in two ways, either Class A/B 180w or full Class A 50w, constant on.  While all of my former amps were Class A/B 200w SS, and used them to drive my former Tot...
Shrink Totem 1's?
I had Totem Model One Signatures, Center, and the standard Model Ones for rear channel with alloy tweeters vs soft domes, and used them for a decade.  They are not good for this. They are designed for 2ch audio, inefficient, and dont radiate as we...
Looking to move to a Tube Integrated setup
@jijoh123 I recalled this same recurring question about "which amplifier" to use with versions of the Tekton Moab in 2020. Impedance was the overarching concern. Link is below for your reference.  The Moab owner determined his Moab speakers were ...
Looking to move to a Tube Integrated setup
@dekay I stopped in reply, restarted, and missed your prior post, only saw the MA352 post above yours. Good to know - for crying out loud. We read ya, LOL :) ------------------- @jijoh123 Long story, have a 50yr audiophile buddy who’s been thro...
Looking to move to a Tube Integrated setup
If you are more use to to the dynamics of your SS or Class D amps driving your 98db efficiency speakers, it could be quite an initial change to your ears dropping to one of the 2-4w single ended amps suggested here.  It's not that you won't like i...
I hate to say it, but now I think maybe I like my amp in ultralinear mode versus triode
To @xenolith, agree, yes, you are fortunate to own those very unique and interesting big blue amplifiers from Gary and Charlie. I love one-off boutique custom builds like this with audio, cars, and motorcycles. Great story how they got finished. V...

@dogearedaudio "Zero" feedback? Really? I’ve looked at the CAD-280SA V12 manual online and it doesn’t mention feedback, but perhaps that’s a different model. Hard to imagine they use NO feedback. Maybe not global feedback, which encompasses the o...
I hate to say it, but now I think maybe I like my amp in ultralinear mode versus triode
@dogearedaudio "...anyone with a technical understanding of tube amplifiers (and I’m barely on the periphery of that circle) will shudder at the idea of a "one-size-fits-all" amplifier. ;-)".   To your point, while you can run different outpu...
Cardas Golden Cross
Congrats to you for having the guts to circle back and re-validate your prior impressions all over again. Having come from Golden Cross myself originally, years back, and going through a number of different cables from other brands/types, I did so...
I hate to say it, but now I think maybe I like my amp in ultralinear mode versus triode
@immatthewj to answer your questions, after I recapped with those specific caps, and tried different designs of silver-over copper and more pure copper interconnects between source/preamp, preamp/amp, in my case, and for my particular speakers it ...

Seems the self-inflicted-comical poster sees the initial post heading, reads little in between, goes straight to the end, and just starts replying with whatever comes to mind to get folks stirred up.
