Starting my showroom again
@luvtubes69 @decooney Just look at the current market and how companies are closing, being sold and consolidation.   While I don’t disagree, what we do see is some level of consolidation which means someone is buying and keeping a few alive. i...
HOW DID YOU END UP WITH YOUR DREAM SYSTEM?
Taking time to listen to different speakers over the years is what helped me the most to get as close as I could afford within reason - and truly getting started. From there, once I had a small batch of different speakers I liked, then re-started...
A list of efficient speakers at ~$5K a pair.
Those speakers from Aric are function-first speakers from what I see, and its possible bright lighting in the product photos could be a little more complimentary. Agree with @immatthewj if they sound great with how the drivers are configured now,...
Pass XA25 for my system
Good choice @sfpeloton, looking inside of it, I bet the new amp will light up and embrace your Dynaudio Heritage Special speakers quite well.
Pass XA25 for my system
@cbrez - I ended up purchasing a used Gryphon 120 which does 240 watts into 4 ohms. It was at that moment that I realized the full potential of the Dynaudio Heritage Special speakers. They are fantastic speakers and I just feel they really open u...

Headphonesty - quote: "And let’s face it, most younger people today are living in smaller spaces (think 500 sq. ft. condos). They simply don’t have the room, or the budget, for massive audio setups. Combine that with the fact that younger gener...
Starting my showroom again
@audiokinesis yeah mostly Audionote, Soundlab, Eminent Technology, and others to name a few. Less often I see Zengali there, and they dont sit long. He sort of special orders those i guess. I mainly check in to see what gets traded in, and admire ...
Starting my showroom again
@nashvillehifi back to the "uniqueness" question. Offering and selling unique dealer-only items people can’t easily buy anywhere online. My local guy might fully retire out. Along the same lines last year I offered to take over his place when I se...
Any US manufacturer of a 845 SET amplifier
Thanks @mesch, I’ll be keeping an eye out for a 2nd smaller form factor stereo tube amp I can rotate in while leaving my pimary QS Mono 120s in place, saving these. Contemplating with some reservations about selling off a good chunk of my vintage...
Any US manufacturer of a 845 SET amplifier
@danager thx those STL amps with OTL design look fun and intersting. That Dr D guy on YT is quite giddy about Alans creations it seems. @mesch looks like you are set, literally, no pun intended LOL. I think id like that Transcend amp you have mor...
Any US manufacturer of a 845 SET amplifier
Resurrecting this 4yr old thread about 845 based tube amps. I am considering commissioning a custom build for 845 SET monos. On the fence reading posts now on the pros & cons across a few different forums.   @mesch did you ever try 845 based ...
what dacs are fast, lively, energetic?
@ltmandella "Benchmark"   Agree, and it was also the only DAC I ever sent back, fast. Fast, kind of sterile, and mostly un-engaging for me. Lesson learned, specs aren’t everything to go off of.
Starting my showroom again
People can buy "simple" just about anywhere online now days. My local dealer in a nondescript little town has buyers driving 2.5 hours from different directions [and wealthy Silicon Valley folks] just to buy AudioNote, Quicksilver, SoundLab elect...
Starting my showroom again
"@nashvillehifi I have had an audio shop since 2003, beginning in Florida." I suspect you already know the answer to your own question after 22 years, right? ---- Yesterday I visited my local 55-years-in-business audio-only dealer. He’s survi...
A list of efficient speakers at ~$5K a pair.
Mesch, received your note. Agon wont let me reply back without a CC which I wont do, as I don’t trust the security here after experiencing basic site errors I see periodically... Can’t complain for a no-cost site yet not sure I’ll keep my PII or C...
