Am I too big of a jerk, even for audiogon?
Saw this recently in a Psychology review - "...the problem with taking ourselves too seriously: We choose to look good over learning new things. Fear makes our lives boring and repetitive."
What tube amp for Harbeth 40.1
@pdreher Have you ever tried or considered a set of well matched Genelex Gold Lyon KT77s?While I tried the same KT88s and EL34s as you in former amps I owned, several audio friends and members on this site have provided very positive feedback on t...
New PrimaLuna Evo's
@johnssOn any of the PL amps, HP, EVO, Non-HP, you have not heard them until you get those plastic film coupling caps replaced with copper foils from Jensen or Jupiter. Takes you much closer to the sound of the VAC amps.True with many well made am...
Serious Problems with Qobuz
Well that's a bummer, recently switched from Tidal and Spotify to Qobuz.  I did notice last weekend a few tracks were shown and then failed to load or not found on 2 of 50 tracks or so.  They've had an uptake on membership lately and just wonder i...

Best Location for Best Cable
If you are running multiple sources, then: #1 for me would be preamp to amp in this case.  Multiple sources benefit. If you are only running ONE source, then:#1 would be start at the source cable first.  Ideal is "both".
Qobuz vs Tidal
@dannadFor just regular HD (CD quality), I don't think there is any difference. dannad, Nope, not talking MQA. Don't use MQA, prefer not to. Yes, hearing a difference for sure. Yes, specifically talking "regular HD CD quality" - FLAC Lossless only...
Qobuz vs Tidal
Finding several references indicating Qobuz has more albums in Hi-Res Audio quality. I don't use hi-rez MQA and only need the service with the most Lossless FLAC (CD Redbook) quality files, offering the most "remastered" albums, even better. Not a ...
Qobuz vs Tidal
@edcynQobuz has a slightly warmer, more lifelike tonal balance and slightly better imaging. Similar observations with Qobuz. Back and forth multiple times again recently between Tidal and Qobuz (FLAC 16/44.1) using my 16-bit R2R ladder DAC. Hearin...
Never Owned a Tube Amp and Want Advice
@dsper A positive comment in a 2009 Absolute Sound test article, fwiw: http://www.theabsolutesound.com/articles/tested-conrad-johnson-et2-preamp-lp66s-stereo-power-amplifi..."When it comes to imaging, the LP66S evinced plenty of tube magic. Image ...

@dsper A nice place to start.  What brand/number tubes came with it?
Neutral Sounding Tube Amps - what gives?
It’s also why some own multiple tube amplifiers with different circuits, tube options, and some variation in sound. There are instances where stock low cost tubes offered in new amps can tend to sound a bit dry or sterile or neutral, whatever you ...
