Weiss 204 to Bricasti M1 series?
@audioman58, do you get paid per post by T+A by any chance 😀 I see you pumping the 200’s tires on pretty much every DAC thread. Yes, my local dealer who sells the Meitner MA3 (which I owned) and 200 says the 200 is a great DAC, but in my experien...
Do all Class D amps lack soundstage depth?
This thread is 14 years old and a lot has changed in Class D since then... Yes, exactly.   I own AtmaSphere Class D monos and they replaced a Pass XA30.8 and X250.8.   The two pass amps have the best front to back soundstage depth I've owned at...
Weiss 204 to Bricasti M1 series?
dynamic, quietbackground, nicely detailed without sounding etched or bright. I have the 205 (204 minus DSD and USB) with a Linear Power Supply, and fed with a Bricasti M5 your description matches what I hear and does remind me very much of the ...
Has anyone tried a linear power supply with a Weiss 204 or 205?
I just purchased a Keces P3 so I'll be able to try the 205 with an LPS soon enough. Hopefully it gives the unit a little more bass/dynamics as that is one area where I think it could be a little better.   Its overall presentation (minus the dynam...
Magico A3 replacement
I find the Magico to be a little dry. Spendor D9.2 with a pair of REL S510 might be another more live route. I owned Magico S1s (original version) for 3 years and liked them but never loved them.   A little dry with the potential for fatigue on...
Krell KSA-i400 Stereo Power Amplifier
@yyzsantabarbara, I wouldn't underestimate the difference (in audiophile relative terms :)) that a top tier DAC can make in a system.    Over the last few years I've tried different amps in my system (ranged from AHB2 to Pass X250.8) and DACs (Top...

Class D amplifiers. What's the future look like?
15k to 25k for 2 cheap Chinese boards in a box, aka class lousy D, so D maker can laugh his way to the bank? (Laughing at the big ol’ dumdums who paid him, bwaaaahahaha) No thanks... deep_333, you are not helping yourself make the point that an...
Bricasti M3 vrs Meitner MA3
I owned the M3 and own the MA3.   I think the M3 is a fine DAC but much prefer the MA3.   I didn't own them at the same time, but will say I find the MA3 to have a much more organic/analog sound but still with a good level of detail and zero fatig...
Best music in 2023
Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit "Weathervanes"  Yes, a great album!   I seen him live a month or so ago and the music from that album sounds awesome. Boygenius The Record is my second pick.  I see them live in about a week!
Whats playing on your system today?
Squeeze; I seen them live Tue night with The Psychedelic Furs.  It was a great show 🙂
recommendation of amps
I had a Benchmark AHB2 for almost 3 years and really enjoyed the clean sound and wide stage. I decided to make a big jump about 2 years ago to the Pass 250.8 and instantly heard why people enjoy Pass. The soundstage was deeper, taller, and most i...
Should I Sell My ARC REF 6 and Get A Pass Labs XP-32
Pass preamps file miserably to measure up against their amplifiers. I had both the xp-20 and 30 and they were anemic, sterile, and lifeless when paired with my Pass XA 60.8's. Yea, that is my experience with an XP-10.   I purchased it to go wit...
Are your listening levels healthy? Doing damage?
I attended aDoobie Bros Concert a few months back in Nashville. I forgot my foam buds, so put tissue in my ears. I measured a SPL of 106 db!  They played great, but way too loud.  Unfortunately, this is all too common and sad from an avid conce...
Are your listening levels healthy? Doing damage?
I have the classic Radio Shack analog meter that I've used for years, but switched to a newer meter https://www.reedinstruments.com/product/reed-instruments-r8050-sound-level-meter a few years ago and am happy with it.   I try to keep my listening...
