How did you get into vinyl? With a few notable exceptions, we all seem to be boomers. Nothing wrong with that, but if I were marketing vinyl that would be important to know. It's good to see a few younger people join the thread, but I'm surprised that there aren't more.Dave

SACD & DVDA done? DVD-A is a DVD format, not a HDDVD format, so why would there be any relationship to HD?DVD-A should be able to survive if there's enough demand. Thank goodness we don't need Sony. DVD-A really delivers rez. I think the whole question is demand. S...
Zerostat? Any Other Good Options? I use a carbon fiber brush with the disk on the platter to get off any big "chunks" that might scratch, then I use the micro fiber cloth and finish with the ZeroStat.Save up and get a ZS or look for a used one.Dave
Anybody have experience with a Pro-ject RM 6 SB? Arthur, what phono-preamp and cartridge were you using? People trying to put together an inexpensive fail to realize that they really need three pretty good components to beat CD. It can be done, but it's tough at the bottom end of the price scale...

Am I getting it all? His analog system is high enough quality that it should exceed CD quality. CDs will not generally sound as good and it won't be particularly close. If he's not achieving that, then he needs to look into his analog setup, not buying new equipment, ... |
