Internet Radio - help please
I use a Logitech Touch, and run the coaxial SPDIF output into my Meridian G68 and the sound quality is really good, (much better than I expected). The Touch connects to the WWW via Wi-Fi through an AT&T U-Verse high speed gateway.I recently ac...
Two-channel is inferior to multi-channel, no?
I agree that multiple- channel is harder to set-up, but Audyssey and other digital EQ software solutions are making this less of a problem. The simple truth of home audio is that the room is the most important component, whether 2, 3, 5 or 7 chann...
Oppo BDP 95 or BDP 93 Nuforce for cd redbook sound
Hi, Bar81. A really nice rig ! Just out of curiosity, how does the Oppo compare with the EMM ? I haven't heard one, but I have great respect for Ed Meitner - he understands digital better than just about anyone.
What is best VTA for Clearaudio Maestro Cartridge?
Bif, I wish I knew why. My guess is the combination of low / medium compliance and an unusually long cantilever. I talked to Mike at VPI and he recommended a 3G weight in the headshell, and a heavier "outrigger ring" to stabilize the azimuth. I tr...
Pioneer BDP-09FD As Good As They Say On Stereo?
I've recently had a Pioneer Elite DV-58AV, a Pioneer Elite BDP-05FD, and now have a new Oppo BDP-95. The new Oppo is much better on CD than the Pioneers. It is probably the best CD player available until you get into the $5K Ayre player. (Ayre has...
Best Classical Stations on Internet Radio
I agree with Vladimir. Classic FM from London sounds great, and I love the accents !!
What subwoofers keep up with Quad ESL 57 ?
I'd try a Vandersteen V2W. Quad ESL-57's are Richard Vandersteen's reference speakers, and I'll bet he has done some tailoring for the Quads low end.
Quality In Wall Speakers
Revel's in-walls are very good, and reasonably priced (Concerta line). Their Concerta B120 sub is outstanding and compact in size.
The best speaker you ever heard?
Vandersteen 7's playing analog 50's jazz. Quad ESL-57's are a close second, but 1/100 the acoustic power, and (literally) half the bandwidth. I once owned a pair of Quad's paired with B-139 based transmission line subwoofers and Sequerra T-1 ribbo...
Two-channel is inferior to multi-channel, no?
Multi-channel is ALWAYS better than 2-channel with well-recorded sources. These will become prevalent with time, since 5.1 home theater systems have out-sold 2-channel rigs by a wide margin for sometime, and digital is becoming cheaper and cheaper...
Oppo BDP 95 or BDP 93 Nuforce for cd redbook sound
I've got a BDP-95 and I play it through the balanced analog outputs. Best CD sound I've ever heard.
What is best VTA for Clearaudio Maestro Cartridge?
Clearaudio MM's do not work well in wimpy unipivot arms - they push the arm around in azimuth too much. I sold my VPI 10.5 and bought a vintage Zeta Black. The difference was night and day. Get an arm that is stiff in azimuth, like an SME, and it ...
Sophia 2 vs. Vandersteen Quatro
Ever Wilson speaker I have ever heard, just like Thiels and many, many others, can do double duty as a paint-peeler. People who listen to live acoustic music and know what it sounds like, always prefer Vandersteens, Quads and Magnaplanars. Everyth...
