Thoughts on JRiver Media Center? Anyone using it?
JRiver is indispensable for me because I have a very large number of classical works stored in my server. It is the only one I know of that provides a customizable robust meta-data system that is suitable for classical. Plus the sound quality is e...
Review: Holo May (L2) DAC and the Musetec Audio (LKS Audio) MH-DA005 DAC Compaired
I only use JRiver with the 005. It can upsample, but it may not be comparable in quality to HQPlayer. I've noticed very little difference as the quality of 44.1 is so good. In fact, I'm not even sure the native DSD files I have sound better than t...

I'd love to hear your take on the Musetec compared to higher priced DACs. Where are you in NY?

@ja_kub_su Sorry, the factory direct price I paid in April was $2,800, not $2700.The Musetec email address is: bleerock@126.com. It is on their website at http://www.mu-sound.com/

@melm This kind of analysis should be helpful to potential buyers who in the first instance assume similar price means similar quality. Holo Audio is not really a factory direct discount operation. You pay for the US distributor who is primarily ...

@melm @redlenses03The 005 was connected via USB  to an Asus mini Windows computer while the Holo Audio May was connected via USB to an Asus laptop. I don't think there is any discernable difference in sound between the two computers. In terms of s...

Masterpieces resonate through the ages. If it is a masterpiece it will live.

Sns: You make an interesting point. To me there is something more enduring or less tiresome about the sound made by traditional natural materials put in vibration: brass, wood, strings, animal skins, and human vocal cords. A good question is can e...

Thanks to all for the kind words. It was a lot of work, but also a lot of fun. Nothing like retirement for permitting this kind of project. I do not have a high quality d to d converter to give I2S a serious comparison to the usb, though I very br...
Musetec (LKS) MH-DA005 DAC
I bought mine direct with free shipping and one year warranty for $2800. I think the retailers provide a longer warranty period for the higher price.
Musetec (LKS) MH-DA005 DAC
I too have purchased the 005 and have been delighted. As I said on another forum: For the record I wanted to share my conclusions about the 005 after around 400 hours of break in. I am pretty much in agreement with what others have said. With a go...
Anyone heard the LKS /Musetec MH DA005?
Yes. Thak you. I discovered that thread and made some comments. I ordered the 005 yesterday over the May as a cheaper option possibly without necessarily compromising on sound quality. I'll report back when I receive it after some break in. I like...
Anyone heard the LKS /Musetec MH DA005?
I found on some recordings the DA004 virtually captured the same vinyl sound as I was hearing off the lp of the same music. Naturally I am convinced the 005 would be an even greater improvement. Still I am very curious about the Holo May, but more...
For anyone who moved from tubes to solid state — a question
I switched back to solid state because it produced better clarity. That's important if you like large symphonic works with lots of subtle detail. Tubes smeared the detail
