Is it worth adding a Schiit Audio Eitr? I believe this is just a board upgrade/ swap for you... not sure why you wouldn't go that route vs adding yet another cable into the signal path?
Schiit Eitr with Aurender N100H Looks like Aurender and Auralic support DoP but not DSD to native PCM. See link below for Auralic Vega. That would still leave you limited to DSD128http://www.auralic.com/download/dsd_playback_setup.pdf
Small room electrostat/ planar speaker? no open end for the room, closing the door essential for wife sanity ;<)
Small room electrostat/ planar speaker? I'm hopeful about bass as the room has 10' ceilings. Maggies have always required careful positioning for the lowest bass octave because they are dipoles. If they don't work out in the space, I've collected so far from everyone's feedback as poss...
Small room electrostat/ planar speaker? I'll have to do some research on the ESL 57's. Believe I heard a modified pair shown off by DIYAudio member at the Capital Audiofest 2 years ago,was one of the few systems at the show that got me to sit down and stay. Wondering if they would mat...
Small room electrostat/ planar speaker? I took a look online at the ClairAudients 1+1, they are sold through TweekGeek and their site advises the speaker needs to be placed at least 5 ft away from the wall, same as the MG 1.7's, which is a no go in an 11x12 room. Pity since 1 reviewer c...
Magnepans I own MG1.7's and run them off a Prima Luna tube integrated which with KT150's has about 60 watts. The room size is 600 sq. feet. About the only time I have a power issue is with low bass, you do need more wattage for "growly" bass but given the ...
Subwoofer options for Magnepan with crossover betwen pre and amp? Not a fan of bass assist above 50hz..the maggies do well on bass color but hit problems in pedal tone octaves. One of the reasons I bought MG 1.7s was because as a tuba player I could hear they got the mid and upper bass right for timbre and artic...
Conversion to DSD: Does It Eliminate Digital Glare? In the FWIW column, listen to the Cranberries if you want a test disc for 16 bit shrillness... if your DAC can tame them without loosing detail, you have a keeper
Conversion to DSD: Does It Eliminate Digital Glare? I would suggest you consider an outboard DAC and pay particular attention to Johnny Darko's DAC index and comments on CD playback . 16 bit music can be irritating on a poor recording but if well recorded a good DAC will allow you to enjoy it. Some...
Is computer audio a bust? You can't solve the challenges of computer audio focusing on 1 problem... especially because you may be focusing on the symptom and not the problem1. Power supply stability and freedom from electronic noise interference from source through DAC sol...
Auralic Aries Mini vs Bluesound Node ll vs Sonos Aries Mini is an audiophile product... lovely in main system but not a good choice for a casual system intended to play MP3's. iPhone app was released mid January, has a few quirks but they will improve it
Why would anyone want 180g records ? Lighter weight pressings are more likely to warp over time. Whats not talked to here is scratch resistance. The old RCA's and Columbia pressings were pretty tough... you could scratch them but it was rarely more than superficial with minor "tick" ...
How do you spot an overplayed used lp without obvious scratches etc Bottom line is that the naked eye can't see microscopic groove damage from worn out stylii, only dirt and surface scratches. Even then, if your stylus geometry is different (van den hul vs elliptical) you may play a different height on the groove ...
Turntable set up- How easy is it All stylii have a suspension and the suspension will compress a little during its life time. Which is why user adjustable VTA is a good thing. |
